Survivor Fans v Favourites - March 6/13 Episode Recap

Kill or Be Killed

Last week, Shamar survived another Tribal Council when they voted out blonde #2 (Hope) and Eddie & Reynold feel duped.

Gota - Night 7
Returning from Tribal Council Eddie confronts the rest of the tribe, "Did you not say you wanted the strongest team possible?" Sherri, "Yes, I Said That." (Totally in his face, overly defensive) Eddie, "Then why is she [Laura] still here?"
-He tells the camera they voted out Hope because she was the prettiest one there (Riigght it was because she's pretty, not because they are trying to break up your alliance and not let you take control of the tribe... Eddie's no rocket surgeon.)
-Then Reynold and Eddie confront Laura about her not going along with the plan; "You're just mad that things didn't go your way." "But it was your plan!"  (Yeah, the pretty boys are not used to people not doing what they want, and they are not handling it well.)
-Reynold says he has no respect for any of them and doesn't want to associate with them and Eddie says "just see how many challenges you win without us."
Mike, "We're not winning with you!" (Good point.)

Bikal - Day 8
Phillip is telling us that his practice of giving people names in his Stealth-R-Us alliance is like Napoleon, who, realizing he couldn't pay his troops, gave them names/titles in honour.  He's decided to give Brandon a name, but not for that reason, with Brandon he's just trying to contain the threat.
-Phillip tells Brandon his Stealth-R-Us name is "The Conqueror", Brandon seems flattered, "That's pretty Bad *ss."
-Brandon tells the camera that it only took him 9 days (it's day 8) to infiltrate Phillips little alliance.  He's supposed to be a special agent and know who's lying to him, but I'm lying to him, he sucks.
-Then Phillip is giving Erik a name as well, "The Silent One", his mission is to (be quiet? hahaha) gather information and share it with appropriate parties.  Erik doesn't really play along with Phillip, he tolerates him, "Got it."
-Andrea is upset that Phillip is giving people not in their alliance names.  She's okay with Brandon getting a name, though she wishes Phillip would have spoken to her first, but then he gives Erik a name, "what, is he giving Brenda a name next?"...
-Next scene, he welcomes Brenda to Stealth-R-Us and her name is "Serenity."  She giggles and takes it.  Andrea is not happy.
-Phillip's goal is to keep them one cohesive unit so that they can continue to win challenges.

REWARD CHALLENGE
Each tribe will select two tribe members to be placed on separate platforms out in the water.  On Jeff's go the rest of the tribe will use planks to transfer those tribe members to a third platform.  Once they've done that, everyone will swim to a fourth, very small, platform. The first tribe to get all eight members on or above the top of the platform wins reward.  Reward: A local bushman will come to their camp with gifts of a chicken, vegetables and knowledge - they are to use him as a resource to learn how to survive off the land out there.

Off they go - first they untie the planks from the first platform - and they move Brenda and Julia to the second platform - then they have to move Brenda & Andrea and Julia & Laura to the next platform - and the favourites gain a little lead because Andrea is moving fast and Laura is a scaredy cat.  Favourites are the first tribe to get everyone swimming for the last platform but Fans are not far behind.
Favourites are trying to all stand on the top - Fans are all piling on Shamar who is turtled on the platform (how's that supposed to work?)
Favourites win Reward!  Shamar is yelling, "That's what I'm talking about!"  (Uh... you didn't win dude.  Oh.)
Reynold blames Laura for their loss and wants her voted out (yeah, good luck with that.)

Bikal - Day 8
-The local bushman comes paddling into camp and Brandon yells, "Hey, look at our little guy!" (Ha, he was a wiry little man.)  I think it was Brenda who said, "He's like a Filipino Jesus."  He was amazing, 4ft tall, 60 yrs old, all knotted up with muscle and he got right to it.  Malcolm said it was more entertaining than anything, they couldn't understand half of what he was saying but he was very enthusiastic about it, showing them how to cook rice in bamboo... "He was like a Filipino Gollum."
-He created a great meal for them, helped fix up their shelter and got some harmless kisses and hugs from the pretty girls. Cochran was jealous, if he tried that he'd be a creepy predator - (yes, yes you would.)

Gota - Day 8
They return from the challenge and Mike was so mad, he's jealous that the Favourites keep winning everything.
-Shamar takes up his usual place of residence, laying in the shelter, doing nothing.
-Reynold and Eddie are seething, he's just plain lazy.
-When someone asks Shamar how he's doing he says he's exhausted, imagine how he feels, being his size and there, "I'm not leaving, but you gonna bring me rice once a day." WHAT?
-They all just shake their heads - he's using the threat of quitting to get them to wait on him (Oh hell no!) Everyone is b*tching about his 'terms' but then Sherri, also grousing the whole time, goes and delivers rice to him (OH COME ON!)
-Then Shamar scratches his eye, so his eye hurts, and he's a whiny little baby.  Everyone is fed up with his antics, Mike thinks if they didn't have the drama maybe they could come together and start winning.  Reynold and Eddie are hoping that the alliance'll finally realize it's not worth keeping Shamar around.  (I don't know if Sherri is willing to take her Phillip out yet though.)

Gota - Night 9
There is a big storm, wind, thunder, lightening and they have rats crawling all over them in the shelter (eek!)
Next morning: All Shamar can think about is his eye - the rest of the tribe feel he's a Marine and should suck it up but Shamar wants medical attention and here comes Jeff with the medics... they check out his eye, it's really red & swollen - they put some dye in his eye to check if he has an abrasion... and he has a divet in his cornea right next to the pupil.  The medic says there is nothing they can do out there, they want to pull him from the game.
-Jeff is talking, Shamar is crying... (and I'm frankly a little disgusted - this guy wanted to leave and now he's saved a little face by getting 'injured' instead of just straight up quitting... I may be jaded but I'd be saying good riddance - don't let the bamboo hit you on the butt on the way out.)
-Shamar says he would never want to go out this way but he doesn't want to lose his vision (Whatever!)... so he's leaving - Jeff calls the tribe over and they are all polite, wishing him well.
-Reynold tells the camera he felt bad that Shamar's eye was actually serious but he's not sad to see him go.
-Everyone gives a sigh of relief when he leaves.  The majority alliance confirms that they are still tight and still plan to take out Reynold and Eddie before any of them leave.  Reynold and Eddie know this, and with the hidden immunity idol in pocket, Reynold knows Eddie is screwed.

IMMUNITY CHALLENGE
The Favourites are shocked that Shamar is gone - but probably not sad either.

This challenge - they will swim out to a platform, climb to the top, smash a tile, retrieve a key and swim back - once they have all five keys the remaining two tribe members will use the keys to open a chest - they will then use the sandbags inside to knock all the blocks off their ledge, releasing their flag - first tribe to raise their flag, wins Immunity.
(My suggestion for the Fans, don't have Laura swim.)

-Off they go, it's Sherri v Erik and they have to run across floating squares, which both of them fall off of then they get to a plank and a platform where they can dive out to the final platform... I think I'd rather just swim it... but Erik makes it first, gets his key and heads back.  Sherri didn't hit enough of the tile to release the key, she's got to climb back up...and they have to blur her bad boobjob.
-Brandon gets the 2nd key back right after Sherri gets their first back - the Favourites hold on to a key lead the rest of the way - and they are working on their locks while the Fans are still getting their last key.  It's Cochran and Phillip working the locks and they get all 3 open and Phillip starts throwing before Mike makes it back with the 5th key.
-Once Fans get all the keys, it's Reynold and Laura working the locks and Laura is not even good at that - sheesh.  Reynold is good at throwing though, once they get the chest open Reynold makes up a lot of ground... it comes down to Favourites with 2 blocks left, Fans down to 6... but Phillip pulls it out and FAVOURITES win Immunity... Again!  (I hate it when one team wins everything, but I don't really care for any of these Fans so I'm kinda okay with it this time... is that bad?)

Gota - Day 10
Fans come back from losing again - and Eddie & Reynold know they are on the chopping block - right in front of Laura they speculate if they're going to try and blindside Reynold or just vote Eddie.
-Matt/the beard and Mike go off to talk, and Matt says the only reason they came anywhere near catching up in the challenge was because of Reynold and Eddie, they can't afford to lose them right now - he proposes they get rid of Laura instead.
-Mike tells the camera he was surprised, he just assumed everyone would try to flush out Reynold's idol and then vote out Eddie - but all of a sudden Matt wants to keep the tribe strong and vote out Laura.  Mike's concern is that they are not the strong people alliance and it could be very dangerous to break ranks, taking out someone he trusts in Laura, and keep Mr Awesome with the idol.
-Matt/the beard goes and talks to Reynold and tells him he wants to keep the muscle together, they still need the guys to even attempt to stay in the challenges.  Reynold doesn't trust him, says he thinks they could be setting him up again.  Matt says if he feels threatened he should play the idol, but he [Matt] is going to vote for Laura tonight.
-The girls, Sherri, Laura and Julia, are talking about splitting the vote again (Reynold & Eddie.)  Laura knows her name is being bandied about.
-Matt takes Sherri aside and gives her the 'keep the tribe strong' argument and says he wants to take out Laura.  Sherri's not on board, not only is it breaking up their alliance further, it's also taking out another woman, and of course the guys are going to be stronger... Sherri is looking out for numero uno.  She asks Julia how she feels and they want to stay lady strong.
-Laura is feeling out Mike and he's still toting the party line, suggests they splite the votes with the girls voting Reynold and the boys Eddie - sounds good to her.
-Mike tells the camera he's got to make a decision whether to vote with keeping the tribe physically strong or keeping his alliance strong - and there is no way for him to know what the right or wrong answer is - he's just going to have to go with his gut and hope it works out.

TRIBAL COUNCIL
Matt, tell me about this tribe now that Shamar is gone.  How does it hurt or help this tribe?
-I think there is less tension around camp with Shamar gone but we also lost a big guy who helps out in challenges, in that respect it sucks to have Shamar gone.
Sherri do you miss Shamar or is it a relief?
-I miss Shamar as far as... part of the alliance. (She was very guarded in that answer).
Reynold, where is this tribe now?
- I obviously voted against the tribe in the first two tribal councils - I thought getting Shamar out first, we could all start to gel - but there is a very strong alliance of five here and they are very hesitant to break it up - but without Eddie & I, your chances of winning challenges is very slim.
Laura, Reynold makes a good argument, the two guys on the outside are two of the strongest guys in challenges.
-Sure, but, tonight's tribal is based on whether we're going to prioritize physical strength or loyalties in our alliance and which one of those two is going to get us farther in this game (No one to be loyal to if you keep losing... I'm just saying.)
And what's your case if they say let's just vote Laura out.
-She says the physical strength votes usually come really early in the game but they've had 10 days to build trust and that's huge in this game. (That has Reynold shaking his head... he's a pretty person who is not used to being on the outside, I think this is just beyond his comprehension... why are they not doing what I want?)
Reynold, you're shaking your head.
-Yeah, I can't wrap my head around it (Ha! Exactly.) They're all about trust but we're losing, losing, losing, losing - are you prioritizing winning or are you prioritizing losing?
Sherri, Reynold almost single handedly brought you guys back.
-But we're still losing, even with them, we're losing.
So, keeping them won't change anything, all it does is break the alliance.
-Exactly.
Eddie, you've been on the bottom from the get go.
-Yeah, we've had our back against the wall, but the way I look at it, if we come together now and vote out our weakest player and then go forward and start winning - we don't have to come back here.
Would you put Sherri in the category of one of the weaker players?
-Yeah (oh Eddie, Eddie).
How bout Julia?
-She's been one of the stronger girls since we've been here.
How bout Laura?
-Laura is unfortunately the weakest player we have on our team, I'm not going to lie about it.
Hard to hear Laura?
-It is hard to hear but we all know this game pretty well and what if the numbers are jumbled over the next couple of days and we all ended up on different tribes? Are Eddie & Reynold going to be as loyal as our alliance right now (Reynold rolls his eyes again). (I think she's stretching it there - I don't see a shake up happening yet.)
-Eddie says if he's still there in 20 minutes he'll feel a lot different about this tribe than he does now - "this is the make or break vote for the tribe right now."

Time to Vote:
Eddie votes Laura
Laura votes Reynold

Tallying the votes:
Reynold is holding his hidden idol in his hand... and he plays it.  They flushed out the idol.
Laura - 1, 2
Reynold - does not count 1
Laura - 3, 4... and they voted out LAURA - ooh, they really don't want to keep losing.  (I'm kinda proud of them, I think it was the right choice at this point.)
With Laura leaving - Sharon L, Tamara J and Alexis G. are out of the pool.
And, leaving with Shamar's eye, are Krista H, Liz K and Bob L.
It was a bloodbath episode, taking out two Fans in one day - ouch.

Next time on Survivor: Brandon goes batsh*t crazy, yells he's the master of his own fate, dumps out their rice and yells at Phillip, "Now vote me out, B*tch!" (Okay - DONE! I can't wait!)

Laura's final thoughts - watching from your couch you don't feel the hunger and the thirst, but it's very real.  She knew coming out there that muscle wasn't her biggest asset but she wishes her tribe the best and hats off, they really got her.

Have a great rest of your week everyone,

Coleen
