Survivor Nicaragua - FINALE Dec 19, 2010

What About Me?

It's the final episode and we're down to five survivors:
Dan - he has no enemies out there and everyone on the jury loves him - but he's also done nothing... literally.
Holly - she seemed to be sitting pretty with her 3 way alliance but now, not so sure.  On day 5 she seemed to go crazy when she stole Dan's shoes but by day 27 she was the godmother out there.
Chase - he revealed the final 3 alliance at tribal council (was it really a secret though?) and being in an alliance with Chase had proven to be the kiss of death for at least 3 people there - Shannon, Brenda & Jane.
Sash - Day 28 he was dead man walking - his allies NaOnka & Kelly Purple quit, he was aligned with no one and he made secret deals with everyone - now he's back in contention.
Fabio - No one's in a deeper hole - he was discounted from the first as a dumb blond - but last week he won immunity and showed he could still be a contender.

Day 37 - Fabio wants to break up the alliance of three.  He and Dan talk to Holly - they ask if she wants to go to the end with them.  She says she wants to go to the end with whoever has the best plan.  What's your plan?  Uh, he doesn't have a plan - "To win immunity."  (Well that could do it.)
-Fabio talks to Sash too - Sash is such a sneaky liar - says he will make a deal with everyone if it will help him - he tells Fabio that of course he wants to go to the end with him.
-Sash & Chase talking and they realize Fabio is the biggest threat - they are focused on getting him gone.

IMMUNITY CHALLENGE
-They have to race out to a station read the trivia questions about Nicaragua then take the bag of puzzle pieces attached to the little platform with the correct answer and return to their starting station - if they got the question right they'd have their coloured puzzle pieces - if they chose the wrong answer the bag would be full of black pieces. Once they have all 3 correct bags of pieces they have to put the puzzle together (it was the logo of this season) to win immunity.
-Everyone gets the first question right, Fabio gets the 2nd question wrong and has to go back out and get the right bag which puts him behind with Dan (who, of course, can't run and is limping up the rear.)
-Holly, Chase & Sash are working on the puzzle - Chase dropped one of his puzzle pieces and doesn't notice - Fabio starts in on the puzzle like a demon and he catches up... it's between Sash and Fabio and... FABIO wins Immunity!  (OMG, he could really do this...)

Back at Camp:
Fabio is loving having the necklace around his neck.  He's targeting Holly.  Fabio talking to Chase and Chase thinks Dan is more of a threat than Holly but it would be a tough task for him to vote Holly (Come on Chase, we know how hard it's been for you to vote out your allies... if he says he won't do it... he'll do it, just watch.)
-Dan is painting Holly as a threat to Sash - of course Sash says he wants to go to the end with Dan & Fabio (but we know Sash will say anything to anyone to stay in the game.)
-Sash thinks Holly is a threat because she's the last woman standing and she could get the Espada vote.  Sash says at this point he's transitioning to playing an individual game (when have you not been playing your individual game - come on.)
-Holly asks Sash & Fabio if her name's come up and Fabio cannot lie... he says 'no' but his face says 'yes.' (He should have said he's brought up everyone... but he's got no plan - we've already established that.)

Tribal Council
(Jane's got some awful blue eye shadow on - no, why do they always look like painted hussies on the jury?)
We've basically got Dan & Holly on the block tonight.
Dan has gone with the strategy that he has a ton of money and he doesn't need the million so why not take me to the end - no one will vote for me to win.
Dan turns around and says Holly is a total threat - she's from a small town and she's well liked.
Holly tries to discount what Dan was saying about he being a threat but she doesn't do a very good job.
Jeff points out to Fabio that he could make, potentially, a million dollar mistake tonight by voting either Dan or Holly out - She points out that she played well and deserves it more - which Jeff points out could also be reasons to vote her out, not keep her.  (Oh, Dimples, you're the devil.)

They vote:
Dan 1, 2
Chase 1
Dan 3... and DAN is voted out (well, all I can say is, it's about time- I can't believe this guy made it so far by doing absolutely nothing and being a non-threat throughout... I don't respect the non-game play, game play.)
So - that took Robert L, Andrew W and Karen D out of the pool.
Dan's exit interview - Dan says he voted for Chase to show he can't stand him.  He called Holly a thief and thinks she should have her hands cut off and he called Sash a liar - he can't wait to cast his vote.  (What did Chase do to him?  Dan's little rant could put him in the running for the Susan Hawk award this season.)

Libertad - Night 37
Fabio knows he has to have immunity to make it to the end - he asks the boys if they will go with him, it makes the most sense.  Sash doesn't care - he knows that everyone that's left there will take him to the end at this point so sure, he'll go with Fabio... or Chase... or Holly.

Day 38
-Holly & Chase say they're still 100% - (I don't think Chase is necessarily lying to anyone - he believes it when he says it but he's proven his word really ain't worth spit.)
-They know if anyone goes to the end with Fabio, it'll be a challenge.  Chase & Holly think Sash will get more votes from the jury than they would so they just have to stick together... (Uh oh, bye Holly.)
-Fabio & Chase go for tree mail and Chase unconvincingly says he will go with the guys.  He tells us he doesn't like the lying part of the game - it bugs him (but you're getting good at it... okay, not really.)

They get a sword with the tree mail - and it's time for the symbolic tour of cheesiness - they will pick up little shields representing everyone that's fallen before them - then BURN THEM ALL!  (Ha hahaha... it's so cheesy.)  Holly feels a huge responsibility as the final member of Espada - blah, blah... Shut it! This is painful enough.
So, quick recap - Wendy Jo - crazy goat lady, should have kept her mouth shut - first to go.
Shannon- he was put with the children and didn't want to babysit (They voted YOU out - remember.)
Jimmy J - this drained him like nothing before.
Jimmy T - poster boy for low self-esteem - he was humbled by the game (whatever.)
Tyrone - fireman who lost on the social game - didn't suffer fools (I wonder what he thought about them burning down the camp.)
Kelly B - one legged wonder - she should have gone farther but NaOnka took a hate on to her.
Yve - says she's going to embrace life from now on and not sit on the sidelines.
Jill - her social game wasn't up to snuff (you aligned with Marty - nuf said.)
Alina - she was proud to be eliminated as a threat rather than just expendable.
Marty - always had a master plan (and was such a doofus - with a ridiculous ego - you're not that smart - deal.)
Brenda - great strategist but too egotistical to make it to the end - her pride kept her from scrambling and she went home.
NaOnka - she thought she was nice to everyone and the smartest one out there (Delusional.)
Purple Kelly - she says she's not a quitter - (But you did, so you are.)
Benry - no doubt in his mind he could have won immunity unless it was puzzles (so, you couldn't have won immunity because they were puzzles.)
Jane - she's had lots of ups and downs in life but she proved she could hold her own out there.
Dan - he didn't think the city boy could survive in the wilderness but he did - he's going to be way less spoiled now (sure you are.)
Then the shields, the shields, the shields are on fire - we don't need no water, let the ...... burn!

FINAL IMMUNITY
They will each have a sword - they must balance it on a shield on the ground with one hand (so hold it up on it's point) then balance coins on the hilt (which had a flat disk on the end) with the other hand.  Last person with their stack of coins still standing wins immunity.
-They get started and they have 3 different sizes of coins - Jeff tells them which type to add each time and they are all unusual coins, not uniform thickness or shape... this is hard.
-Chase keeps looking daggers over a Fabio (concentrate on your own!  Chase you've gotta win me some money man!)
-And Holly is the first out - she dropped a coin when she was going to add it to her stack - bummer.
-Next placement and Chase is out - jeez - this is a knuckle biter... oooohhhh, who's going to make it...
- FABIO! Wins final immunity -(that's so awesome - I can't help it, I love that the underdog, dumb blond kid has made it this far.)

Back at Camp
-Fabio is loving this - he can't wait to watch them squirm.
-Sash is the first to talk to him and Fabio actually starts playing with his head a little - Sash wants reassurance that Fabio's still taking him to the end and he's kinda non-committal, making Sash sweat.  Fabio asks him if he (Sash) had won immunity if he would have taken Holly & Chase and Sash says no.  Right there Fabio doesn't believe him or now trust a thing he says.  Sash start making ridiculous claims that they're best friends out there, blah, blah.  Fabio sees right through him and is trying not to laugh.
-Fabio goes and tells Chase that Sash was trying to build a case against Chase - now Chase is pissed off that Sash went behind his back to get him out. (Really? Can you really be mad - it's Survivor.) He suspected Sash was like that but now he knows he's a snake (whatever man - where've you been?)  Chase says the three of them were going to stick together no matter what - so Sash saying he would have kept Fabio around wasn't true (No!) Chase says straight up, Fabio wants to keep him and Holly.
-Fabio is now a little disgusted with everyone scrambling like cockroaches when the light comes on - they're all throwing each other under the bus.
-Chase tells him if he hadn't won immunity again - they would have voted him out.
-Holly pleads her case too - she said she's not going to lie, he knows the other three were in an alliance - Sash has played a very strategic game and that could win him votes.
-Fabio says Holly's the only one who hasn't lied or done anything to him (that's probably why he shouldn't keep her)  but he also thinks she deserves to go to the final 3... (No, don't be a Colby.)

TRIBAL COUNCIL
-Fabio had a fun afternoon watching the 3 turn on each other - he saw through Sash's assertion that he would have taken him to the end.
-Chase told him the truth - probably wouldn't have taken him.
-Sash says honestly that he made a lot of promises to a lot of people. (So, honestly, I'm a liar.)
-Holly told Fabio she would have voted him out too.
-Fabio feels he's free to take whomever since he knows the boys, (who he kinda had an agreement with), were both lying to him.  Chase says he was honest with him - Yeah, at the very last second he was honest.

And they vote:
Sash 1
Holly 1, 2, 3 - The boys have stuck together and crazy HOLLY is voted out. (I think that was the right move for him... he's more likable than the other 2.)
-SO that vote took Maddy D, Andria S and Kim A out of the pool
-Holly says she's proud of herself for making it that far and she's learned to never give up.

Night 38
Hi ho, hi ho... the three boys come skipping back from tribal council (well, not really) but Fabio does seem to be walking on air.  It's taken him 38 days to make it to a power position but he did it.
-They all think they deserve to win and can't wait to plead their cases to the jury.
-Sash says he's proud to have them as his wing men.
-Fabio is laughing - says to the camera - "Wing man - whatever, you can take the backseat."

Day 39
They get food for breakfast and they pig out!  Mimosas, pancakes, eggs, sausages!  At this point they are the best of friends and the worst of enemies.
-Chase still thinking how he can win - telling Fabio that he has it in the bag to make him over-confident and hopefully shore up his chances of winning.
-Sash is nervous - he's done a lot of backstabbing - but he's going to be 100% truthful at tribal council - its his only chance to win. (I don't know, didn't work out for Russell in the last two seasons.)
-Chase thinks he has an advantage because he did actually have relationships with everyone (he eventually voted out... how do you figure that's an advantage?)

FINAL TRIBAL COUNCIL
Opening statements:
Chase - I want to thank y'all for getting me where I am - truly an honour to play the game with everyone of you.  Bring on the questions, I know some of you are pissed at me, think I played a crazy game - bring it on - I will be completely honest with you on why I did some of the things I done, bring it on. (So, let me get this straight - you want them to bring it on?)
Fabio - I also want to say I enjoyed each one of you, (NaOnka frowns at that) - part of my strategy was to be an open book - I knew I was in the clear a lot of the time but I asserted myself at the end - winning three immunity challenges at the end was survival mode  - I deserve to be in the final 3 - played a stand up game - I deserve a million dollars, I could have a lot of fun.
Sash - He really enjoyed playing the game with everyone and he played a very different game than Chase & Fabio - there are 3 components to win the title of sole survivor - Out Wit, Out Play and Out Last - all three of us were able to out last to day 39 so it comes down to strategy - who was able to out wit and out play.  The friendships he formed he takes much more seriously than the alliances - alliances are part of the game - sorry some of them were broken but it's part of the game - hope you respect me for that. (He was kinda simpering - not a strong finish to his opening statement - at all.)

Now we go on to the questions - in the words of Chase Rice - Bring it on!

Brenda - She's really proud of all of them - Sash you're a great strategist but breaking all your alliances then having to ask and expect votes from the jury...
 - He cuts her off - "It was very difficult.  I am remorseful, I did have to back stab but I hope you can see what happened in the game was part of strategy and my friendship is something different and I apologize."
She moves on to Chase - her snuggle buddy - said she felt they had more of an emotional connection so it really surprised her how easy it was for him to vote her out.
 - He says it wasn't easy at all - he went to her as soon as her name came up but Nay and Fabio had turned and there was nothing he could do to save her.
- Sash butts in that he could have done more and Brenda shuts Sash up by telling him He could have done more by giving her the idol (yeah, you would have done better to stay out of that one, bud.)

Marty - he starts by saying hats off to them for getting there - then he goes off the rails and asks Chase if he had to give out a "Dumber than a bag of hammers" award who would he give it to (and it couldn't be Marty.) (What the hell kind of question is that?  Don't answer it Chase.)  Chase has the same reaction - says it's a BS question because he can't pick Marty - looks at Jeff, do I have to answer this question? He tells Marty he can't answer him because it would have to go to Marty.
Marty moves on to Sash - says he's a cerebral player  - Chase, that means smart - (wow, why the hate on for Chase?  Kinda makes me like Chase more because I dislike Marty soo much.) Says he likes him.
Congratulates Fabio, dude,  for winning three immunities in a row.  And that's it. (weird.)

Holly - Chase, what was your best move in the game? - Voting out Shannon so he could play the game with people he could trust.
Fabio - was his winning streak too little, too late?  No - I think it was the best timing possible (uh, yeah, look where he is and where you are.) His plan was to be friends with everybody so his only option was to win immunity - it was right on time.
Sash - did you ever lie to me? Honestly.  Yes, we said we'd never put our names down and unfortunately in the last vote we both had to vote for each other (oh, come on, that's not what she meant.) And he apologizes again (there are no apologies in the final jury Q&A - Those people never win.)

Jane - She's had such a sour puss... bring it
She starts with Sash - says someone sure did raise him good to be a New York City river rat - as far as she's concerned he can crawl back into the black hole where he came from. (Ouch.)
Chase - she's still totally pissed at him but he did make her time out there the funnest event in her life - asks what he would do with the money if he won.
 - He says he'd give $100K to cancer research (his brother started a foundation after Dad died) and he wants to take care of his mom.
-Fabio jumps on the mom bandwagon - "Me too, I want to take care of my mom."

Benry - Heard enough from Chase tonight.
Fabs - congrats on the back to back to back immunity wins - is it good enough?  Have to wait and see.
Sash - throughout the game I was able to see through you - tell me what I did wrong.
 - If you could see through me, should have mounted a strike to take me out.  Thought you were solid player but wouldn't take me to the end so you had to go.

Dan - Sash - I think you're a liar, a phony.  I think you're spineless and I hate that smile and if I were you I'd go to the doctor tomorrow and get that eye fixed so you stop with the wink (Okay, I had to pause the show here and Dan's eyes were all bloodshot and he really looked like he wanted to do Sash harm - creepy.)
He moved on to Chase - tells him he was the most paranoid player in the game.  There's a lot of people bleeding here because of you.  You back stabbed me, you back stabbed Jane - Jane - your number one person - you let a lot of people down.  Let me tell ya something - Beauty fades, dumb is forever. (Wow, he could be our Nicaragua's Susan Hawk.)  Chase says, "This is Survivor Dan."

Purple Kelly - Do we really care?
You did what I couldn't do, you stuck through all of this.  Sash, tell us how you out witted all of us.
-He says he should have been voted out at the merge but he wasn't and he moved forward by making many alliances.  It was unfortunate that he hurt so many people but he said he'd own up to it tonight and that's what he's trying to do.
That was not the answer she was expecting and she feels like that was perfect. (What a waste of our time - go sit down Purple.)  You guys are awesome. (ugh.)

NaOnka - Chase, my brother - Fabio, my hippy friend and Sash, the strategic player
Fabio - you won the first idol after the merge and when it counted you won them all - you got to see your mom on one of the rewards, was that gasoline to boost you on to winning?
-He says he didn't actually go on the reward but he did see his mom at the challenge and he day dreamt every day about what he could do for his family - then he got all choked up - Yeah man it's something that comes out of you when you need it - I never felt like that before - I never put that much focus into anything.  He didn't have a plan like these two but he felt he deserved to go to the end and love of his family propelled him there. (She looks teary and even Benry wipes a tear away ... really?  Did NaOnka just win Fabio the money?)

Alina - Fabio ultimate surfer boy but she doesn't want to give it to a boy, wants to give it to a man.
-Sash - tell me why you should win.  Fabio was clueless and Chase waited for others to make the decisions.
Fabio pipes up that he knew a lot more than what they were giving him credit for.
Sash continues that Chase was wishy-washy, going from one alliance to another, leaking information.
Alina - tells him she was surprised by him tonight (oh, Alina likes Chase)
Chase - I wasn't wishy-washy, I had to keep myself in it...it hurt him to vote people out. Fabio had strategy not to piss people off but still make it through - that's not true, half the time we'd come back from tribal and he wouldn't have a clue what just happened.  That's not a strategy.
Fabio - says you tried to play the game without pissing anyone off but I was actually able to do it.
Chase says you didn't have a strategy - you won 3 immunities in a row and that is impressive but you didn't out wit or out play
Fabio - That's outplaying you bro
They go back and forth a bit about out lasting, out playing, out witting - Sash jumps in Fabio says he didn't out play anyone...
- Alina says she likes to see the three men fighting for what they want. (I bet you do... oh, I'm sorry.)

Time to Vote:
Marty - votes Fabio - says Chase is stupid and Sash is a weasel.
Alina - votes Chase - so impressed by him (Alina wants her some North Carolina sugar I think.)
Dan - votes Fabio - come on, do it for your mom.
Brenda - votes... she keeps us hanging... Chase - (I'm kinda surprised, though they were snuggle buddies.)

Now to the Studio... (little disappointed there was no jet ski - helicopter - riding dolphins to the set...)
And Fabio has a smart new haircut (kinda Brad Pitt circa A River Runs Through It) and Sash looks totally different - he's gained a lot of weight - I almost thought it was Boston Rob up there.

Jeff gets to it and reads the Votes:
Fabio - 1, Chase - 1, Fabio - 2,  Chase -2, 3, 4... (oh, could I win really?) Fabio - 3, 4... 5  FABIO wins Survivor Nicaragua!  (That's hilarious!  Who would have thunk it?  Good for him!)  (Bad for me...)

Fabio was the youngest winner ever at 21.  Wow, 21 really.  Fabio is a little weird, his family is all artists.  He wants to start a communications/artists production company.  He's going to have some fun.

And with Jud "Fabio" Birza winning - Charlotte W, Kevin C and Vikki M have won the Survivor Pool!  Congratulations you guys.

I'll just hit a couple points from the last hour reunion.
-New rule: when a player quits for reasons other than medical emergency - they will be able to do what they want - put them on the jury or take them off (lots of people not happy that the quitters were on the jury this season.)
-Sprint Player of the game as voted by the public - JANE.  She won $100K.
-Boston Rob & Amber just had another baby girl.

And finally - Survivor 22 - Redemption Island.  When people are voted out they will not be automatically out - they will go to redemption island alone - then the next person voted out will be sent to redemption island as well and they will duel.  If anyone makes it through the gauntlet of duels long enough they will get a shot to come back for a chance at the million dollars.
*There may also be a change in the pool - if the first person voted out isn't really gone - no booby prize - winner will take all.

Have a very merry Christmas everyone.  And I will be looking at starting the next pools in the new year.

Survivor Nicaragua - Dec 15th Episode Recap

This Is Going to Hurt

Last night on Survivor, they recapped that Chase is an idiot… with horseshoes up his butt. He’s turned on everyone he’s been in an alliance with but with no calculation or malice, he just can’t seem to make up his mind (man, is Chase going tonight? Why else would they start with that?)

Libertad – Night 30

They return from Tribal Council where Benry was voted out. Fabio wants to talk to Sash who pulls him away and says, “Benry was targeting you but I have your back.” Fabio buys it and Sash tells the camera, “As long as Fabio doesn’t win immunity, he’ll be the next to go.” Sash thinks he’s the one in control of the game again… hmm, I don’t think the ladies would agree.

-The rest of the tribe is telling him that Benry said he (Fabio) was trying to get Holly out. Really? He doesn’t buy that one. Fabio knows they underestimate him – he can’t wait until they realize he’s not as gullible as he appears. (I can’t wait for him to prove that too.)

Libertad – Day 33

Oh, it’s product placement Sprint cellphone tree mail. OMG, it’s videos of their family and here comes the waterworks. Chase’s brother looks like him. We see Sash’s mom (actually I think he’s the only one not crying), Jane’s daughter, Dan’s sons and all of Holly’s family (she cried through everyone’s videos, as did Dan, actually) and Jud (Fabio’s) mom… after which he tearily says to the camera, “I just want to see my family man, I really do.”

-Fabio approaches Chase and asks who he’s going to take on the Reward if he wins – they agree it will be Fabio, Chase and Sash (but we know how that went for Sash last time.)

REWARD CHALLENGE

Win today’s challenge and they can take the Evo by Sprint on a cruise with a feast… and the company of their loved ones… gasp…(and the crying begins again… Damn it! Stupid family episode gets me every time.) Chase’s mom comes out, Fabio’s mom – Jeff tells her he’s been renamed “Fabio” and she says he used to be “Jud the Stud” so it fits – Sash’s mom is next and he makes a sappy speech “all you need is love” (and his Precious.) One of Dan’s sons comes out and he loses it (old men crying, typing through the tears here – I’m so pathetic.) Jane’s daughter Ashley comes out and they celebrate – she says Jane looks skinnier than hell (yup, that’s Jane’s daughter.) And they saved Holly’s husband for last - she’s spent their 25th anniversary out there… meh, they left me cold.

So, the loved ones will have to participate in the challenge today (Hey, Dan may actually win a challenge – his son looks like he’s in good shape.) The challenge: the Survivors will race up a plank and jump in the water (man-made pool) and retrieve a bag of puzzle pieces then race back out of the water and deliver it to their loved one. They have to do this twice (2 bags of puzzle pieces.) Once the loved one has both bags of pieces, they can begin on the puzzle – arranging the letter tiles into a well-known phrase (Family Comes First). (Oh, Dan has to do the physical stuff, I guess he’s not winning this one.) First loved one to correctly solve the puzzle – wins Reward.

-And they’re off. Fabio & Chase are neck and neck with getting their puzzle pieces back first – Dan is last… Chase’s mom gets the puzzle first! CHASE RICE and CONNIE RICE! (Jane mutters to her daughter that he will probably choose Sash.)

-Jeff tells Chase he’s allowed to choose one other person to go with them – he says one person hasn’t been on a reward in a very long time… and he chooses Sash. Then Jeff tells him to choose one more person to go – he says, “this’ll probably hurt some people’s feelings” then he chooses HOLLY! BURN! (Do any of them really trust Chase? Come on. That’s twice in a row he’s promised to take someone on the Reward and reneged… what a dope.)

-Then to make it worse, Chase asks what’s going to happen to the rest of them – Jeff says they’ll be taken out and executed (Oh, he made a funny.) Dan’s son says Chase is a scumbag. And Fabio can’t believe Chase didn’t choose him – Chase apologizes… but it’s too late now man.

Libertad – Day 33

Back at camp, we have the bitter brigade – Jane, Dan and Fabio – Why does he continue to choose Holly? Dan says obviously their usefulness to him is over. Fabio tells them he talked to Chase even today and he said he’d take him. Jane said her daughter is going off to college and she (Jane’s) spent her last summer out here (Well, that was your choice lady, one boat ride isn’t going to make up for that.) But she’s laying it all at Chase’s feet – “He made a million dollar decision today.” Dan, “yeah, to lose it.” Dan is playing into Jane’s disappointment –“He betrayed you, that’s disgusting.” She feels like she’s the 4th in a 4 way alliance and that worries her.

Reward

-They are eating – Sash is thankful and Chase tells them he just lost Fabio’s vote, that proves he’s in it with them to be the final 3. They all want Fabio out next and Chase says he wants to keep Holly close, so it was a strategic decision.

-They tell their loved ones that they do have another person in their alliance but these 3 have committed to being the final 3. (We shall see.) Chase finds a scroll but they don’t really show anything about it – he and Sash have the hidden idols so it’s kinda moot. Then they have to take pictures with the phone… Sprint something or other.

-Chase enjoyed the reward but, damn, now he’s got to go back to camp and face the wrath.

Libertad – Night 33

They come back to camp in the dark – everyone is sleeping but Fabio and he confronts Chase – lets him know he’s not happy about being left out, says he’s jealous because Chase’s gone on 4 awesome rewards in a row (if you won them you could go) but once he lets it be known he’s ticked he tells the camera he’s got to let it go – you can’t hold grudges out here (but I’m sure that’s easier said than done) and he’s just going to have to win immunity.

IMMUNITY CHALLENGE

They will each be blindfolded and must make their way along a hitching post, going over and under, however the rope they’re following is wound around it – they will get to a shield with a number of symbols attached on it (dagger, sword, fleur de lis), they have to memorize the symbols by touch then take the bag of matching symbols (still blindfolded) back to the start where they must place them on another shield in the corresponding spots. They even threw in some similar, but not quite the same, symbols (that’s evil. I would suck at this.)

-Off they go – Jane bashes her head on the post – ouch – they all get to the shield and are taking their time memorizing the symbols – Jane takes the least amount of time and heads back – the rest start following back – Chase and Dan are the last to head back – Holly loses one of the bags of her pieces – uh oh…

-They are all placing their pieces and Fabio & Chase are placing quickly – Fabio thinks he has it – one piece wrong – but he changes it and FABIO wins Immunity! (Sometimes, anger is the best impetus for success.)

Back at camp

-Fabio screwed up the plan by winning immunity.

- Chase tells Fabio he thinks Dan is done.

-Fabio wants to vote Jane out tonight. He tells Chase to use his head (for once) – he keeps saying Jane’s gotta go, so it’s time to do something about it. Could go down as his worst decision if he keeps her another day.

-Chase talking to Sash, he still doesn’t want to get rid of Jane yet, thinks they’re taking a big risk if they vote Jane out and sees it as a win-win voting Dan out tonight. Sash thinks by keeping Jane they could all lose the million dollars. Holly comes up and confirms the other boys want Jane out. She thinks they have to decide if they want Jane with them in the final 4. Sash tells Chase that this is their best chance for them to make it to the final 3.

-Chase whines that he doesn’t want to write Jane’s name down (why not? You’ve voted out everyone else you’ve aligned with so far…) He wants to keep her to the final 4 – he’s still not sure if this is right or not.

-Jane comes up to them and asks if they are still 4 strong – and none of them will look her in the eye. She knows. Chase is throwing it back at the other 2 but they won’t man up so Chase tells her that her name has been brought up. Sash tells her they don’t think they can win against her. She scratches her face with her middle finger (ha ha ha, gotta love Jane.)

-She is genuinely hurt that her alliance has turned on her – (we could get a Sue rant like season one out of Jane later) “They’re backstabbing, lying, cheats… and she’s most disappointed in Chase.”

-Sash tries to put his arm around her and she tells him not to even look at her. She’s not backstabbed anyone and she’s proud of how she played the game… but she’s MAD.

-They are gathering to go to tribal council and she grabs the water buckets and douses the fire, causing Dan to jump out of the shelter (I don’t think I’ve ever seen him move that fast.) She says, “By God, I started it, I’ve put it out.” (Beware the wrath of Jane.)

TRIBAL COUNCIL

Dan, crazy afternoon?

- Listen… ah, never mind.

No, you started, you know I’ll dig.

- Well, before coming here Jane took a big bucket of water and doused the fire.

- Jane – I sure did. I started that fire and I want to be the last woman standing to put that fire out.

So this was a philosophical statement.

- Well, can I have my say? There is absolutely no loyalty in tonight’s vote. It’s full of liars and backstabbers – end of story.

Not end of story, I want more.

- They’re going to vote me out tonight and I’m gonna call some people on some stuff (Marty and Brenda are loving this – NaOnka looks shocked)

- Holly – you call yourself a coach and a mentor yet you stole $1400 worth of personal property (you should have seen her head whip around) – where I come from you’d go to jail. (The jury is loving this.) (She was referring to Dan’s shoes from day 5.)

So Jane you’re frustrated.

- I’m not frustrated, I’m upset that I made an alliance with people that are right now throwing me under the bus. The four of us were going to stay strong and get rid of these two(Dan and Fabio – who somehow look surprised by this.) (Chase is rolling his eyes - he wishes she would just shut up.)

Chase, Jane could believe she’s in a four way alliance and not actually be in a four way alliance.

- No, she was in a four way alliance and this afternoon we decided it was in our best interest, to possibly win this game, to send her home. (Big sarcastic shocked face from Jane.)

Let me ask the alliance of three who seem to be running things, who’s the next to go?

- Chase – whoever doesn’t win immunity.

So, Fabio or Dan

- Chase again – yes. Then he checks with Sash and Holly – “would you agree with that?” And they refuse to answer him (wow, bunch of cowards, let Chase take the blame… nice.) Finally, Holly says, yes, she agrees with that.

SO THEN – Jeff points out that there are three other people there and they could force a tie – Jane – what would you suggest you do? She says the other three should vote Holly out because Sash and Chase have an idol…. THAT IS SO AWESOME!

Jeff confirms that Chase & Sash have hidden idols – he tells them this is the last night they’d be able to play them so it would make sense for them to do that then he asks Dan what he thinks.

Dan basically says he’s in. Jeff asks Fabio what he thinks and I’m not sure is really getting it… (Vote for Holly!)

(Jeff just totally manipulated that whole exchange, wow.) He points out the alliance came in with a solid plan – now Holly is scared that she’s going to be out.

Chase is so confused – he has no idea what just happened… (Oh man…)

Time to Vote. They don’t show how anyone voted.

Tallying the votes:

Jeff asks if anyone has a hidden immunity idol and would like to play it – Chase and Sash both play their idols (no use holding on to them now anyway.)

Jane 1, 2, 3, 4… JANE is voted out. (Ohhhh – I thought she might have pulled it off (with Jeff’s help there.))

So, with Jane leaving tonight – Shane B, Virginia D and Mary Beth M are out of the pool.

SUNDAY is the Finale -They show everyone calling everyone else a threat…

Jane’s final thoughts – you find out very fast what people’s true colours are out here. Sash is a liar - she will pray for Holly - and she can’t believe her buddy in crime, Chase, turned on her. She is very disappointed in him – but that’s Survivor.

Can you believe – they showed how everyone voted and everyone voted for Jane – she voted for Sash… huh? He had a hidden idol – why didn’t the other 3 vote for Holly? Now I’m confused.

And here’s who is still in the running going into the finale:

Sash – Shelly P, Laurie T, Steve H

Chase – Cheryl B, Sharon R, Coleen T (That’s ME!)

Fabio – Vikki M, Charlotte W, Kevin C

Dan – Robert L, Andrew W, Karen D

Holly – Maddy D, Andria S, Kim A

Good luck everyone,

Coleen

The Amazing Race Finale - Dec 12, 2010 Recap

Hi. I'm Sorry. I'm in a Race.

Our final 3 teams:
Brook & Claire - got a watermelon in the face the first leg but kept their sense of humour and style throughout, even surviving the first ever double U-Turn
Jill & Thomas - won an Express Pass on the first leg and used it to remain in the race in Sweden.  They have been strong and strategic throughout.
Nat &Kat - have run the race with precision and overcome obstacles - Kat's vegetarianism when having to eat a goat's head and Nat's diabetes - to take their place in the final 3.

The teams start out this leg from Seoul, South Korea which was the 11th Pit Stop in this race around the world.
-Jill & Thomas are the first to depart at 3:57am - they get the clue to fly to their final destination city, Los Angeles, California.  Once there, they must make their way to the Port of Long Beach, Pier J - to get their next clue.  They get a taxi to the airport.
-Brook & Claire head out at 4:23am - Brook says they are the best under pressure - they just need to stay focused and be more hungry than Thomas... And I'm starving.
-Nat & Kat - last to leave at 4:27am - They are happy to be heading to LA - they met while at UCLA - they both lived there for 4 years.
-All the teams get to the airport and camp out in front of the Korean Air counter - no drama.  They'll all be on the same flight.

-They land in LA and they're all running off the plane.  Nat & Kat are the first out of the airport, followed closely by Jill & Thomas, with Brook & Clare coming up the rear.
-At Pier J - Nat sees lots of cranes and platforms and she's hoping they don't have to go up on the cranes...too bad for her - it's a bungee swing off the top of the crane.  Kat is trying to talk down her panic already... deep breaths... (Oh boy.)
-Jill & Thomas arrive and she gulps at the thought of jumping off those things too.
-Brook & Clare - Brook's not looking forward to the free falling - but she'll just have to deal with it.

They all get their harnesses on and take a tiny elevator to the top - Kat is getting strapped in first and Nat looks like she's ready to bolt...
-All the teams are up on the arm of the crane at different points.  Jill & Thomas hope Nat freaks out and can't do it so they can by-pass them (and I hope I win the lottery but it doesn't mean it's gonna happen.)
-Looks like all the teams are going to do this at the different points on the crane, virtually at the same time- just slightly staggered based on their arrival.
-Nat & Kat go over and swing down under the arm - Nat screams, "I'm still alive!"  They are lowered to a dingy below and she's proud she didn't even pee her pants.  When they get back on solid dock Nat almost kisses the ground - "I've never loved asphalt so much in my life."
-Jill & Thomas go and, yup they did it - nothing much to report there.
-Brook & Clare go and Brook 'about loses her bananas' - (I think dolphins went deaf all over the bay that day - holy, make her stop screaming.)

-On the dock, Nat & Kat get the clue that tells them they're riding a helicopter to a surprise destination.  Off they go - still staggered one after the other - up in their own helicopters.  They are all blown away with the view of the city from the air and agree that is the way to travel through LA.

-Nat & Kat land in the parking lot of the Rose Bowl and get the next clue - ROADBLOCK - they will have to decorate 3 sections of a float to the Parade Queen's satisfaction to get the next clue.
-Nat is going the task - and she's not very crafty but she's observant and just follows along with the examples people are doing.
- Jill & Thomas made sure he would be available to do the last Roadblock for them assuming they'd need his strength - ends up they could use her strengths in crafts and creativity for this one - but he's gotta do it.
-Brook & Clare read the clue and Brook is in her element - she loves this stuff.  She's been on a few floats in her time (why does that not surprise me?)  "These are my people."

-Nat thought she was finished but she didn't prep the roses correctly - she had to add wires to them - but she does it and is still finished before the other 2.  She gets the next clue which literally is a set of 3 clues they have to solve to figure out their next destination:
1) I am Sancho Panza's master.
2) I am the place to hear The Symphony in the Glen.
3) Monroe's year of the itch.

-Nat & Kat go to the taxis (there is a bank of about 5 taxis there) and start asking if anyone has an iPhone or if they know Sancho Panza's master ... seems none of these cabbies speak English as their first language (set up?)   They decide to try and call information and hop in a cab where they can use the drivers phone.
-Thomas finishes and they jump in the first cab - they ask if he can call someone with the Internet - their driver doesn't seem to understand what they're asking him to do.  They are demanding and obnoxious and not getting any help from the driver.  Thomas gets on the phone, maybe to dispatch, and they hang up on him.  "Do you know what the Internet is?"  No.
-Nat's called information and has been able to talk the woman into looking up the answers for her on the Internet - they find out Sancho Panza is a character in Don Quixote... that is the studio they need...

-Brook & Clare are done now and ask their cab driver to take them to a hotel where they can use the Internet (was that so hard - Jill & Thomas?)
-And speaking of... Jill & Thomas' driver is now on the phone, not speaking English and ignoring them as they beg to use his phone again.... he's just driving. (Uh oh, that doesn't bode well.)
-Nat has now found out the 2nd clue is for Griffith's Park and they knew Monroe's itch refers to the Seven Year Itch.  They head to Quixote's studio at Griffith's Park, Stage 7 - and they are the first team there and get the clue.  GAME SHOW (sort of) - they have to head inside the studio where there is a large screen with many pictures of people in hats flashing by on it.  They must select the 11 greeters that met them at each Pit Stop with Phil, put them in order of the legs on the controller pad (which looks like an iPad - this leg brought to you by Apple) and once correct - Bob Eubanks (from the original Newlywed Game) will give them their next clue.

-Nat & Kat get going right away (and Bob Eubanks has had a LOT of plastic surgery.)  They get the first one easily enough but there is some insecurity about the Ghanaian greeters.

-At the hotel - Brook & Clare (with the help of a concierge(?)) figure out it's Quixote studios at Griffiths Park, stage 7 - they head back out to their cab.  Brook thinks that was too easy (tell that to Jill & Thomas.)
-Who are still being driven aimlessly - "We gotta get out of this cab"... It's like they've been shanghaied.  They finally get him to pull over and run into some random business - demand to use their Internet... (you catch more flies with honey, you know.)  They get blank stares and no help.

-Nat & Kat had written down all the legs of the race so they pull out their notebooks so they knew the order of the legs and just had to try and find people they recognized.

-Jill & Thomas still scrambling around - no one has the Internet... or is willing to help them.  They head back to their cab and Thomas is all flustered - they seem to be totally falling apart (okay, I don't really like this team, but I do kinda feel bad for them - Someone give them the Heimlich, they're choking! Hahaha.)

-Brook & Clare are on their way to the studio and don't have any idea where they stand at this point... could be first or last.

-Nat & Kat are still working at finding people they recognize from the legs and they finally get them all right - Bob Eubanks cheesily presents them with the clue (and he gets hugs and kisses in the process.)  They get the clue to the Finish Line - Greystone Mansion.

-Brook & Clare get to the studio and start having kittens when they see Bob Eubanks (Oh, TV people, cheesy dramatics all around.)  They get started trying to find the greeters and seem to have a better memory for faces than the Doctors did.

-Nat & Kat are stuck in traffic and freaking that someone could totally pass them while they're stuck in the back of that cab.

-Brook & Clare finish quickly and head out for the Mansion - you can tell this is the big one cause they didn't kiss Bob Eubanks (come on, that would have taken the kiss tally to 10.)

-Jill & Thomas are still nowhere - Thomas found it ironic they had the biggest language barrier with their cab driver right there in the States.  Jill, "This has screwed us." (She does have a gift for the obvious.)

And Here's How They Finished:
1) Nat & Kat - **WINNERS!** They made history as the first all-female team to win the Amazing Race!
-They have totally bonded on the Race and, besides being the first estrogen rich winning team, Nat also proved to diabetics everywhere that they can be as active as want to be.
2) Brook & Clare - They literally laughed their way around the world.  Brook says there is the idea that being a strong woman either means you're a grumpy boots or a gnarly chick - no - you can be feminine and still be a strong woman. (Was that really what she thinks she proved?  Kudos for them for the great finish but I think the view of strong women has been much broader than that for a long time now.)
3) Jill & Thomas - Humbly come in last - Phil says they were so consistent... until today.  Thomas is surprisingly philosophical, saying things just didn't go their way today.  She seems to be taking it much harder than he is - crying - (she was a competitive little thing.)  He says he wouldn't have done the race with anyone else and he's very proud. (Aw.)

OUR POOL WINNERS:
Katie L
Kelvin H
Brittany & Sarah R
Gary M
Drew C.

And they showed us a sneak peak at next season - it's an All-Star Do-Over... favourite teams from past seasons that didn't finish when they raced before:
The Goth Duo, Mike White and his dad, Gary & Mallory, The Globetrotters, Brook & Clare, The detectives (Louis and Michael), the Asberger's guy & his buddy (who lost his passport), Michael & Kevin (from this race, father & son), The poker girls, The deaf guy & his mom, Team Glee and the beloved Cowboys, Jet & Cord.... they showed all these teams & more - how many will there be?  Holy!
The next season starts Feb 20th - so I guess I'll have to get the next pool going after the New Year.

It's been a good one.  Thanks for all you're support everyone.
Have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Survivor Nicaragua - December 8th On-The-Fly Recap

Not Sure Where I Stand.

I went to Burlesque last night with some friends (I do sometimes pretend to have a life) so I’m going to try something a little different – writing the recap on the fly as I watch it. (Oh, and I enjoyed Burlesque, yummy cheesey, singy goodness - I recommend it to anyone without a penis.)

Ever have one of those days when everything goes wrong? Welcome to Sash’s world. His closest alliance, NaOnka had a hidden idol… then gave it to Chase and his other ally Purple Kelly would do everything he said – they both quit.

Libertad – Night 28

They come back from Tribal Council and are complaining they had to go to Tribal because of them and get all wet – they come back to camp all wet and the quitters get to be all dry and warm tonight.

They decide to name the remaining chicken – Kelly-Nay, because they were both chicken. (Perfect!)

Sash realizes he’s not in a great spot – he has a hidden idol but he’s stuck between two alliances – that don’t include him. Chase, Jane & Holly v/s Benry, Fabio and Dan.

Libertad – Day 29

Sash talking to Benry, Fabio and Chase – he tells them he’s going to play the hidden idol at next tribal to declare himself a free agent and not a threat to anyone so hopefully they’ll keep him around.

Chase tells Sash he thinks it’s in their best interest to stick with the women. Sash says the only person he thinks will beat them is Jane. Chase says he’s going to try and get Sash and Holly a reward – they’ve gone the longest without bonus food.

Day 30 – Reward Challenge

- Second chance to revisit some of the previously played challenges. First round, crawl through mud, dig ball out of hay, bounce it off a shield into a barrel.

- First 4 advance to next round – use a stick to retrieves a key off a suspended spring , unlock a chest containing 4 sandbags, throw the sandbags on a barrel

- First 2 people to get all 4 bags on the barrel move on to the final round – use a paddle to dig up 3 rope rings out of sand, the first person to land all 3 rings on the target will win reward.

Reward: The winner will go to a private resort – meal, shower, good night sleep. (Oh, I can smell this coming already.)

They’re off – Chase, Jane, Benry and Holly move on to round 2.

The boys get the keys quickly – and Chase and Benry are in the final – before either of the women get their keys down (ugh.)

Final round – CHASE wins reward! He was a man possessed.

Of course – he gets to choose 2 people to go with him. He chooses Holly because she gave up reward last time and then he chooses… Jane! I KNEW IT! He said he’d take Sash and just burned him.

Sash thinks he’s so stupid – knowing Sash has a hidden idol and then play him like that – especially when he already has Jane’s vote sewn up.

Back at camp – Day 30

The dirty boys come back to camp – Fabio’s fine with the 3 that went. Sash says Chase made the dumbest move ever, leaving him, the wild card, alone at camp with the opposing alliance. Sash dives right in, “Tell me your game plan…[so I can see if you can get me to the end.]”(was implied)

Dan calls him on it – so you could still side with them. “Uh, uh, uh…” Yeah – they don’t trust him. Dan says we’d be crazy to trust him especially after what he did to his own right hand girl… but if he sides with them they have 4 so he might have to trust Sash.

Reward –

They are all still covered in mud and they are stuffing their faces – they head inside their resort room and see a mirror for the first time in a month – they can’t belive how skinny they are.

Holly says she thinks Chase made the stupid choice by not bringing Sash on the Reward. Chase realizes it now – he talks to Holly and tells her he knows he made a mistake. They think the others may now try to pick them off. He’s going to enjoy the Reward while he’s there and do damage control tomorrow.

Back at camp:

Fabio to Benry and Dan – they don’t want Sash to side with the others – no one wants to go to the final with Jane so they hope he realizes they are his better bet. Benry’s not sure about Sash though – he’s been back and forth this whole time.

They killed Kelly-Nay – wondering if Jane will be upset they ate her chicken without her – it’s not her chicken. (But, wow, I think that was ballsy eating the chicken without the others.)

Libertad – Day 31

Jane is crying about the chicken – “They didn’t have to eat her – they have enough rice here. I did love that chicken.” Oh no, she made a shrine to the chicken… Remember the crazy old lady a few season’s back and the dead bat… they’ve been out there too long.

Holly worried about Sash spending so much time with the other guys. Chase says they have to convince Sash that they need him with them and they are willing to dump Jane and keep him.

Benry is nervous – he’s getting paranoid. He approaches Chase and asks if his name’s been brought up. Chase says no, why not Fabio. Benry says he’s down with that if Chase will vote out Jane – Hell Yeah! (So basically, they lied to each other.)

Chase goes and tells Sash he’s sorry he didn’t take him on the reward - He very much regretted not taking Sash – but he also wanted to show him that he trusted him by leaving him there with the guys. Sash asks if he’d swear on his mother and wonderful father – that you would take me to the final 3 or 2 no matter what. Of course.

Holly, as usual, has the best timing – she barges up to them and Chase tells them that Benry told him he wanted to keep playing the game with Chase and Fabio would be next to go.

Sash says that’s a straight up lie. They agree that Benry should be the next to go, he’s the most likely to win immunity.

Benry comes and reports to Fabio that Sash is talking to Chase and Holly – Dangerous? Dan, yup. Our plan is doomed. Probably no picking off the other three now. Benry thinks he’s done enough to keep himself here – he’s in tight with Chase and momma Holly. He goes and joins the Sash/Chase/Holly circle and they tell him they’re thinking Fabio next – Benry makes his pitch for Jane – no one wants to go up against Jane in the final (Shades of Marty still infecting their thoughts…. If Jane does go to the end – Marty may have won her a million dollars.)

Immunity Challenge:

They will be attached to a hitching rail – and have to move over and under it to release their rope – when they think they have enough of the rope free – they will run out and try to reach a bag of gold coins- first 3 to get their bag of coins will move on to the final. They will have to solve the gold coin puzzle – looks like stacking them so they fit in a box…?

Fabio is the first to his bag – Sash and Benry do not have enough yet – back they go – but they do make it the second try and Benry, Fabio and Sash are working the puzzle.

They have prestacked coins – it’s a matter of getting the shapes to all fit together into a rectangle shape.

Jane is being annoying, come on Sash, Fabio, Benry – shut up!

Benry cannot get his head around the puzzle and Sash wins immunity just ahead of Fabio. (I guess he won’t be playing his Precious tonight after all.)

Libertad – Day 32

Sash feels great – triple threat – individual immunity, hidden immunity and he’s in the most powerful alliance. Most of the game he’s been sandbagging, going 75-80% so he looks at Benry and Fabio who have been going 100% the whole time and they won’t make it because they are a physical threat.

-Fabio asks Sash if he will let him know if his name comes up – Sash, yeah, sure. Fabio feels like Sash is closer to him then anyone else on the tribe – he thinks sitting back and being cool is the way to go right now – but he doesn’t kow.

-Dan talking to Sash and Chase – they tall Dan it’s Fabio – Sash says they’re stringing the guys along and he’s going to keep them guessing – Benry, Dan, Sash & Chase – we’re going to tell Fabio we’re voting Jane – Benry says he won’t believe that – tell him it’s Holly. Benry says he feels bad lying but he’ll do whatever he needs to, to stay there another night.

-Fabio buys it – I’ll vote Holly – He feels good with that, he’s ready for her to go.

Sash and Jane – he tells her she’s like a second mom to me – tells her that he has her back. She feels good with their 4 way alliance. He says we all fell in place because we’re all loyal and sincere people… (with a Cheshire Cat grin… oh, I don’t trust him.) Jane hopes they’ll be able to pick them off one by one cause that’s what they planned to do to us.

Tribal Council

Jeff points out the quitters. (Yeah, yeah, we’re over it.)

Chase, you had the chance to pick 2 people to go on the reward with you, great strategic opportunity to make 2 people happy but it could also work against you…

- I was very concerned it’d work against me – make 2 people happy and 4 people mad.

How concerned were you, due to being young and fit that you’re a threat.

- Yeah, I’m a physical threat but I haven’t won individual immunity yet – Benry and Fabio also physical threats.

Benry –how concerned are you?

- Extremely concerned.

Jane, compare yourself to Fabio – how much of a target is on your back?

- He’s a big physical threat, not so smart on the puzzle but definitely a threat.

Fabio feels okay with his alliance.

Benry’s feeling okay that things will go his way tonight.

Sash feels great with immunity around his neck – he says it makes him more approachable around camp. Everyone wanted to talk to him.

Fabio saw everyone talk to Sash but he’s okay with it (he thinks he knows they’re voting for Holly.)

Holly said she noticed everyone talking to Sash and it made her nervous – she feels sorry for Fabio that he’s not. You have to talk to people, you have to find out what’s going on – communication is huge.

Time to vote:

They didn’t show us how anyone voted… Ooooh, what’s going to happen?

Anyone with a hidden idol want to play it? Chase does not play his.

Reading the votes:

Holly 1, Fabio 1, 2, Benry 1, 2, 3, 4…. Oh, they blindsided Benry!

And, with Ben Henry (Benry) having his torch snuffed – Cara L, Cheryl J and Fred M are out of the pool.

Next week: Only 2 episodes left – huge feast for the winners and the losers will be taken and executed - Gasp. (HA hahaha… I wonder what that really means?)

So it does look like the show will be over before Christmas - some lucky people will have some extra spending money over the holiday 

Have a great weekend,

Coleen

The Amazing Race - Dec 5th Episode Recap

I'm Surrounded by Ninjas

There are 4 teams remaining because of last leg being a non-elimination round and they remind us that Nick was horrible last leg and that he & Vicki are facing a six hour penalty and Speed Bump this leg because he gave up.
-The teams are starting out from Hong Kong - Kat & Nat are the first team to get the clue at 4:37pm - find out they have to fly to Seoul, South Korea and then drive themselves toward the North Korean border - Kat, "Really?" (Yeah, really?) They have to find the Seunguil (?)  bridge in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) and there they will find the next clue.  Reading further in the cab, Kat reads, "Do Not Cross the Border." (I should hope not.)  They are a little nervous about driving to the border.
-Thomas & Jill are the next out at 4:47pm - he thinks they're the top contenders but there are still some smart women in the race who have proven they are teams to be reckoned with.
-Brook & Claire head out at 5:26pm - they head into a hotel to try and arrange tickets with an agent since the issue they faced in Oman at the airport and not getting the better flights they hope this will give them an edge. Turns out the first flight heading out for Seoul isn't until 12:25am.  They should all be able to make that flight.
-In the airport, we see the doctors use their feminine wiles and get a strange man to buy them a travel book on Korea... Living by the "Catch more flies with honey than vinegar" motto... I'm thinking it's more like some men will do anything for a pretty face, but then I'm just jaded.
-Nick & Vicki are the last team heading out and they don't show what time it is - huh - Nick says the race has pointed out problems they have in their relationship (they, sheesh).  He says he realizes he treated her like scum and he promised himself and Vicki that he'd never blow up like that again... (Hmm, didn't he say the same thing after the Ghana leg? I'm not holding my breath.)
-The other teams are checking in as Nick & Vicki get to the airport (or they made it look that way.)  Nick & Vicki miss the 12:25am flight and the next one out doesn't leave until 9:30am - (Oh, and look, Nick's pissed off.)

-The first teams arrive in Seoul and find their cars - Thomas & Jill are bickering in the car - Brook & Claire wonder if they can broker a deal to have North Korea put the other teams in time out (Uh, yeah) and the Doctors are feeling the extra excitement of the politically charged area.
-They are all driving through the rain in a country where there is no English on the signs at all - they are all relying on maps to get them there.

-Nick & Vicki are boarding their flight in Hong Kong - say they're hoping for the best - Nick says they're going to try and have as much fun as possible...(Yeah, they pretty much have no chance of catching up - and, honestly, I'm still a little bitter they're still there.)

-Jill & Thomas are the first to make it to the bridge and get the clue to choose a guide and raft down the river, then take a Humvee to the US Military base to get the next clue.
-Brook & Claire are next to the clue box and try to hurry to catch up with Jill & Thomas - Nat & Kat arrive and Jill starts screeching at Thomas to hurry up, that he took longer than her to put on the wetsuit.  They head out on the river and the white water rafting does look like fun.
-Brook & Claire get out on the river, at one point Claire says, "Oh, Kelly Clarkson" (40-Year Old Virgin reference, nice) and Nat & Kat are bringing up the rear - all of them having a blast riding the rapids.

-Once they get to the army trucks they have to put on helmets - Jill & Thomas are the first off the water and a little worried about what they'll have to do in the DMZ.
-At the army base - Jill & Thomas get the clue for the ROADBLOCK- Who's ready to be all you can be?  At the army base the soldiers are all trained in Tae Kwon Do - two hundred or so are out on the field performing the martial art - the teams have to choose a headband and walk among the 200+ soldiers and find the one soldier wearing the matching headband - once they get it correct - a soldier will kick a board in half to release their next clue.
-Thomas is going to do the task for them - they run out into the training field and he has to go up the bleachers to get the head band from the top.
-Brook & Claire arrive and squeal like irritating, little girls - Brook is doing the task for them (of course, she has an audience) She is shouting that they all look the same - she takes a chance and hands her head band to one of the soldiers and he just takes it from her and puts it in his pocket - huh, must be wrong.  Now she has to run off the field and back up the bleachers to get another head band - (Ouch.  Better be more careful next time.)
-Thomas finds his matching head band and the guy takes off to kick the wood - Flying Side Kick - and they get the clue to head out on foot or on the subway to Seoul's World Cup Stadium.  They are heading out just as Nat & Kat get there.
-Kat is going to be all she can be.

-Claire is telling Brook to focus, but she's being cute - "I'm surrounded by ninjas."  She finds her matching soldier/head band and the soldier does a Spinning Side Kick to release their clue.  She's so excited and jacked up she tries to kick the board too (Stop it, lady, I'm embarrassed for you.)  She yells, "I think I can read Korean now." (Um, yeah, cause watching Tae Kwon Do does that for you.)  They head out for the subway.
-Kat finds her matching soldier and their guy does a Standing Back Flip to break the board (Okay, that one was impressive.)  They also head out for the subway.

-Jill & Thomas get the first train out - Brook & Claire and Nat & Kat get the second train.
-Nick and Vicki are sleeping on an airplane somewhere.

-Jill & Thomas get to the World Cup Stadium and the clue box is in the middle of the field - it's the DETOUR: Full Throttle or Full Bottle.  Phil tells us Korea has been a major player in the international sporting scene and the teams will attempt to determine if it's because of their modern training methods or holistic take on health and nutrition.
-In Full Throttle - they'll have to walk or take the subway to a skating rink, change into high tech speed skating suits and skate a two-man relay for a total of 24 laps (What?!)  When they finish they'll get their next clue (I see lots of slips and falls in their futures.)
-In Full Bottle - teams must make their way by foot or subway to the market, put on deliverymen suits and carry six large bottles containing ginseng roots to a holistic shop - if they can deliver all the jars without breaking any and drink a bottle of ginseng tonic - the pharmacist will give them their next clue.
-Thomas wants to skate - he says they suck at delivering things - She says, "We do?"  But, of course, Jill caves and they are speed skating.

-The other two teams get to the stadium and Nat & Kat decide to skate - Brook wants to skate but Claire doesn't, she hasn't skated since she was a kid... Brook, in the most passive aggressive tone, "Fine, we'll do the ginseng then..." Claire, "No, we'll skate, just don't yell at me when I fall down." (Oh, this doesn't bode well for the pink ladies.)  They are still bickering as they exit the stadium and miss the fact that they have to go on foot or subway... and they hail a cab.

-Jill & Thomas think they're sitting pretty - haven't seen any other teams since the DMZ - he leads an "Alright, Thomas!" cheer (seriously?)

-Nick & Vicki finally arrive in Seoul and ask a guy in the airport to help them find the bridge - he says he'll lead them there - Aw, that's nice...

- In the cab, Brook & Claire aren't speaking on the way to the skating rink (I was chanting, Read the Clue - Read the Clue - Read the Clue!) Nope.  Claire is being a poopy-pants, "She chose this so, if I suck at it, there's nothing I can do." (Argh! Stop fighting and read the clue!)

-Jill & Thomas are on the subway - Nat & Kat just miss a train - and Brook & Claire are the first to the skating rink (uh, oh.)  They put on the speed skating suits and Brook is not happy with the attire - Not what we would have chosen to wear (is that really relevant right now?)
-Jill & Thomas get to the rink and are shocked that Brook & Claire beat them there - these two do not function well if they are not in the lead - She's yelling at him to hurry up and change - he tells her to shut up and they are still wondering how the other team beat them there.

-Meanwhile, guy that is leading Nick & Vicki to the border stops for a toilet break and buys Vicki a snack - "For the beautiful woman."  Nick says he knew she was good for something (and this is him being nice.)  The Korean guy is so cute - "Bonsai!" - unfortunately he doesn't seem to be helping them that much.

-Back at the rink - none of them can skate - it's ice-walking in the skates.  Jill is doing the most falling but she is also going faster than Claire.  It's a slow skating relay race - and a little painful to watch (especially every time Jill's ass meets the ice - I've been there, and it hurts.)

-Nick & Vicki's "guide" takes them to the border (Do Not Cross the Border) and runs over to get a picture from Vicki - he runs back, "They also don't know."  Nick laughs. (Me thinks they should have just used a map.)

-Jill & Thomas are the first to finish and she sacrificed her body for that - they get the next clue to make their way to Riverside park and search for an airplane statue where they'll get their next clue.  They're satisfied because they're again in the lead.
-Brook & Claire finish and they are all outside trying to find cabs.

-Nat & Kat, meanwhile, get out on the ice - Nat grew up in Arizona so she has LOTS of experience with ice skating.  They are also doing the slow-skate relay.

-In the cab, Jill is obsessing about how Brook & Claire got to the rink so quickly - (Who cares?  If they cheated they'll get a penalty - let it go.)
-At the park - Jill asks an old man if he speaks English and Thomas gives her crap for asking an old man.  "Is this guy in your age range?"  Now, they're doing charades for the guy, trying to ask where the airplane statue is.
-Brook & Claire find the statue no problem and get the clue to the Pit Stop - The Temple of Heaven - it's across town - back to the cabs.

-Nat & Kat finally finish the skating - they know they looked ridiculous and were really slow but they had fun doing it (and they know Nick & Vicki are nowhere near any of them so it takes the pressure off.)  They head for Riverside park.

-Jill & Thomas finally find the statue and he's going on, "How does nobody know what an airplane is?" (These two are getting on my nerves this leg - Who cares?)

-Brook & Claire get to the Temple of Heaven and are the first team to arrive - HOWEVER - "You took a taxi when you should have taken the subway so you have a 30 minute penalty..." They are not happy but there's nothing they can do about it now (I think this is one of the first times Brook has had nothing to say) - they sit on a ledge right in front of Phil to wait out their time.

-Jill & Thomas get in a cab and the driver doesn't speak English - they go full-out ugly American and demand he call someone that speaks English so they can tell him where they need to go - he's on the phone and Jill freaks out - "He's wasting our time - get out of the car." They hail another cab and the driver's younger - good - he knows the Temple of Heaven.

- Nat & Kat get to the clue box in the park and get the clue to the Pit Stop.

-Nick & Vicki get to the bridge and get the clue for their Speed Bump - they have to go to the army base and wash a tank... Are they really going to make them do everything?  They don't show us anymore of them until they checked in...
Here's How They Finished:
1) Thomas & Jill - actually 2nd to arrive but they get First on this leg because Brook & Claire still have 19 minutes in their penalty.  Jill & Thomas win a trip for two to Argentina... And they are officially finalists.
2) Brook & Claire - they are the second official finalist team - they hope they can be the first all-female team to win.
3) Nat & Kat - our third official finalist team - they also want to make history by being the first female team to win the race.
4) Nick & Vicki - Finally  **ELIMINATED** Vicki says this has been the best experience of her life - He learned that getting angry and being rude doesn't get you anywhere. (He says the words, we can only hope he has grown as a person.)
So, with Nick & Vicki finally going home: Esther B, Lee G, Chiquita D, Shelley A and Mike L are now officially out of the pool.  Sorry guys.

And next week is the finale!
Here's who's still in it:
Brook & Claire: Robert L, Carol-Anne D, Rachel R, Krista H and Kevin C.
Jill & Thomas: Shane B, Tommy D, Susan O, Bryon L and Bernice R.
Nat & Kat: Katie L, Kelvin H, Brittany & Sarah R, Gary M and Drew C.

Have a great week and good luck everyone,

Coleen

Survivor Nicaragua - December 1st, 2010 Episdoe Recap

You Started, You're Finishing

The show started showing how miserable it's been - cold, rainy - and how, at different times, Holly, NaOnka and Purple Kelly have all wanted to quit.
-We're reminded that Holly and Jane successfully got Brenda voted out 2wks ago and Sash could have saved her if he coughed up the Precious (hidden immunity idol) - but he didn't.

Libertad - Night 27
-They are coming back from voting out Brenda and Purple Kelly was shocked that she was so completely in the dark.  She asks NaOnka who she voted for - "Brenda, did you hear all the crap she was talking about me?"
-Nay says Brenda threw her under the bus and drove over her frontward and backward.
-Holly is reassuring Nay that Brenda's smack talk doesn't hurt her with them - it makes Holly trust her more that she told her stuff (and essentially turned on her old alliance - uh huh.)
-Chase talking to Nay says now their alliance of four will be with Holly & Jane - on the outs are Purple Kelly and Sash - they'll have to blindside him since he has an idol.

Libertad - Day 28
-It's a dark and stormy day - it's been a deluge - their nice little pond has turned into a raging river.  The weather makes camp life miserable.  They're all huddled in the shelter, shivering.
-Nay is anemic and she tells us the cold hurts her - her joints freeze up and she's in pain.  She doesn't know if she can take anymore.
-Kelly is crying, she doesn't know how much longer she can take it either.
-Fabio's strategy is finding a mental happy place - this is temporary.
-The weather clears and Benry is out talking to Fabio - he hopes Nay and Kelly do leave - b-bye.
-Chase & Nay are out talking, she's thinking of quitting so she gives her hidden immunity idol to Chase - he's giddy and doesn't even try to talk her out of it - he says even if she stays he's not giving back (good for you.)
-Holly is talking to Jane - they're now thinking it's them Chase and Sash for the final 4 - that leaves the other boys, Benry, Dan & Fabio on the outs.
-Sash says he doesn't trust Chase, Holly & Jane but he doesn't really want to side with the boys either - he trusts Nay & Purple Kelly and he hopes they stay. (Of course he does - he'd be in control of those two.)

REWARD CHALLENGE
-They are divided into 2 teams and tethered together - they'll have an 8ft stuffed dummy named Gulliver (Really?  Movie tie-in in the game? Come on!) tied to a table - they have to untie Gulliver and carry him through a series of obstacles - if they drop him they'll have to go back to the previous obstacle and try again.  First team over the finish line with Gulliver wins reward - Survivor Cinema - get to see the new movie, Gulliver's Travels, and eat hot dogs, nachos, popcorn and lots of candy.
-Jeff gives a little pep talk, message in the movie that it doesn't matter how big you are on the outside, it matters how big you are on the inside (This is so pathetic.)

Teams are chosen and they are:
Yellow: Fabio, Sash, Jane, Purple Kelly
Blue: Benry, Chase, NaOnka & Holly
Dan was not chosen so he will sit out and he's chosen to back Blue so he can go on the reward if they win.

-Yellow is the first team to get Gulliver off the table - it's very big and very heavy -they can't just toss him over the first wall obstacle - they have to carry it the whole way.
-Jeff keeps saying 28 days and everyone is still fighting - no one's giving up! (Is this whole episode a set up?)
-It's neck and neck through the last obstacle - rope tunnel... and BLUE wins Reward!
-Sash whispers to Jane if they should ask about eating a chicken tonight, she says, "Who gives a flying f - they're eating tonight."

-They're all gathered after the challenge and NaOnka seizes the opportunity - tells Jeff that she's given 110% and her body's breaking down, so this will be her last day.
-So you're quitting?  Anyone else want to quit?
-Purple Kelly says she's quitting too...
-11 days left and you can't take it anymore? - You're going to walk away?
-They both say they're good with it.
Jeff says he's not good with it - he tells them he's going to give them the rest of the day to think about it and they'll go to Tribal Council tonight for them to give him their final decisions. (Seriously?)

-Moving on, Jeff says he knows it's been hard with the fire recently and them losing food and their tarp so he has an offer for the Reward winners - if one person that participated in the challenge is willing to fore go the Reward, he will give them a new tarp and a huge container of rice.  Everyone is thinking, if NaOnka's going to leave anyway, she should be the one to give up the reward - but it becomes obvious she's not going to do it so Holly steps up - says she'll do it.  Holly gives a speech about having to look out for these guys...  And Benry's talking to NaOnka's back - "You should be the one - tell her (Holly) to sit down and you do it, she needs to eat..." Nope - that would require Nay to think of someone other than herself - not going to happen.
-Holly can't believe how she misjudged NaOnka (Oh, come on! What in her behaviour there has ever shown she wasn't only out for herself?  It shocks me that Holly would be so gullible... well, not really.)
-Nay says, "Thanks Mom." (Please, someone punch her.)

Libertad - Back at camp
-Rain is imminent and they scramble to get the new tarp up.
-Fabio's glad Holly stepped up, he wasn't going on the Reward anyway so it's just a bonus to get rice & dry.
-Holly & Kelly go for firewood and Holly plays Mom some more - tells her to suck it up - you came here for a reason and if you quit you will always be known as a quitter.  You need to seriously think about what you're doing.
-Kelly tells the camera she's been sucking it up for 28 days - she has nothing left to suck. (Haha, quitter.)
-Holly was inspired by Jimmy J not to quit - he told her to think of how proud her family would be - she found the strength to stay and hopes she can be an inspiration to others.

REWARD
-They are gorging on hot dogs, popcorn, nachos, candy...
-Chase can't believe how selfish NaOnka was to say she's leaving then go on the reward anyway.
-Nay says she didn't give 110% in the challenge to fore go the reward - "I ain't no fool." (No, you're a selfish b*tch.)
-Back to gorging and we have a movie trailer in Survivor - I'm totally disgusted - is this episode just a commercial for the movie?  As a fan of the show, I feel cheap and used.
-After the movie Nay says she fed off the energy (and sugar, I'm sure) "you never know where life may take you.  It put everything in perspective."  (Nay is so not leaving.)

Libertad - Night 28
-Kelly says rice and a tarp are not going to get her through another 11 days - (Kelly is so leaving.) - she says she's not sure of her decision yet. (Uh huh.)

FAUX TRIBAL COUNCIL
This is a first as far as I can remember - No immunity challenge - emergency council... and it's raining.
-Jeff announces that they are there because NaOnka & Purple Kelly both announced they wanted to quit... and the jaws dropped on the three jury members - Marty, Alina and Brenda.
Holly, there was a time you wanted to quit...
-Day 5 - Jimmy Johnson asked her if she had ever quit anything - never- then why would you quit this? (Okay, I don't think she really remembers what Jimmy J said to her.)  She says if you've made it this far why not try to go as far as you possibly can?
Jane, to hear you talk, everyday life is not a walk in the park for you...
-No it's not, you have to have drive, determination and heart but you also have to have the willingness (and resolve) to just get it done.
So, NaOnka, take me back to this morning, when did this idea start?
-When it's raining like this and it's windy - my joints get to hurting (Dan looks like he wants to smack her - the jury all look just disgusted with her as well.)  She's proud to say she made it 28 days, she's the only African-American left (Sash gives her a 'whachootalkinbout' look) She's a strong, black woman (and you're doing them proud by quitting?  Really?)
Purple Kelly, how bout you?  When did it first come to your head?
-Early this morning - she feels like there is no end to this weather and she feels like she's just breaking down.  "Can I really stick this out when I've put up with the worst days I ever had?"  (Benry & Holly are shaking their heads at her.)
Benry, what's your take on this?
-Winners never quit and quitters never win - it's hard to sit here and listen to these girls who could obviously stick it out 11 more days.
Jeff determines Fabio is just one year older than Kelly and he asks, Do you think this is an age thing?
-No, I think it's a mental thing and having the will to stick it out.  I don't care if it's snowing out here, I'm here to the end.
So, NaOnka, we run the challenge and you win and go on Reward...
-I looked at it as a celebration, taking in all the good things.
Do you seriously think you had a chance of winning?
-Yes, I do, because of my drive, once upon a time...
Amazing, please go on, tell me a story.
-My drive, attitude, spunk, charm... I know I had a chance to win. (Then why would you quit?  No one's buying your BS anymore lady.)
They then talk about the movie - there was a message that applies to this situation - of course, because this feels like it was totally scripted.
Jeff then talks about the offer he made and how Nay had already said she wanted to go home and still she wouldn't take one for the team (Again, lots of disgust from the jury.) And NaOnka says, "I didn't want to." (I shudder to think this 'girl' is teaching children - GROW UP!) "I was going to go out with a bang." Don't you think that was selfish?
-I don't care, I'm content.
(This is stupid - just make them leave already!)
Jane lays it out one last time - Life is hard - there are people out there that have it worse than us right now and they're not playing Survivor. (Yeah, think about that princesses.)

Finally, Jeff asks for their decisions:
NaOnka says loud and clear, "I am going to quit."
Purple Kelly also, "I'm going to quit."

Marty mutters he can't believe this, he wants to play. (That's gotta burn - these two made it longer than these three players and then just threw it away.)
-Alina is crying, she played so hard - this whole thing is ridiculous.

That's enough, Jeff snuffs their torches and says he's going to keep them at Tribal Council as a reminder of their stupidity.  I don't care what their final thoughts were - they're dead to me.

I found this whole episode a cheap manipulation with the movie tie-in and using the moral of the story to argue with the quitters to stay... I almost feel like quitting the recap in protest - But I'm not a quitter! :)

So, with NaOnka quitting that takes Lynne B, Mike L and Sue & Hannelore out of the pool.  And Purple Kelly quitting took Ivor B, Monica M and Alex H. out as well.

Next week: 7 players left and they all want it bad - everyone is talking about voting everyone else out.

Have a great rest of the week/weekend everyone,

Coleen

Amazing Race - November 28th, 2010 - Episode Recap

I Hate Chinese Food

The four remaining teams are heading out from Bangladesh - Jill & Thomas are the first team out at 8:25am, 5 hours before the next team - they get the clue to fly to Hong Kong.  Once they arrive they have to make their way by bus and ferry to an island to find their next clue.
-They said they U-Turned Brook & Claire because they saw them as the most competitive team left.  They haven't seen anyone since the beginning of the last leg so they don't even know who was eliminated. (Huh, they keep them separated?)
-They head to a travel agency and find out the first flight out is 11:55pm - Crap - they'll be seeing everyone on the flight out, there goes their lead.  They head back to the hotel since they have to wait all day to leave.
-Nick & Vicki are the next team heading out at 1:59pm - she says they've grown in their relationship on the race especially with her working on calming him down.  He says before her, he didn't care about anybody - then he starts crying and calls her a blessing... (Aww, now I feel like a heartless b*tch for hating him so much.)  They head to the airport.
-Nat & Kat next out at 4:05pm - They're excited to be heading to Hong Kong.  Kat has been there before and she knows Nat will love it.
-Brook & Claire last out at 5:15pm - Brook is looking forward to seeing Thomas - they think they're the only team to ever survive being U-Turned (I don't know if that's true) regardless, they are looking forward to making him uncomfortable - they hope he poops his pants when he sees them.

-We don't have long to wait - everyone's at the airport and we have the awkward confrontation between the shopping girls and Jill & Thomas.  Claire just wants to know why - he gives them the song & dance that he thinks they're the biggest threat, they should take it as a compliment - Whatever.  Brook says if he felt threatened before, he should be petrified now.
-Jill feels bad - Thomas doesn't - but he did try to throw her under the bus, or at least drag her under with him when they were blaming him alone... That's what you get for acting like The Great Thomas.

-Arriving in Hong Kong, they all head for the bus - Jill & Thomas get the first bus out, the rest of them are on the next bus.  Those two are so lucky.
-Jill & Thomas get on the ferry and anxiously wait to see if everyone else will make it.  The second bus gets to the ferry and it's a sprint to the boat.  The Doctors and Shopping Girls get on the boat but Vicki's asthma is acting up and she can't run - Nick starts yelling at her to hurry up, he doesn't care about her excuses - and they miss the ferry.
-Vicki apologizes to him - says it's her fault and he just keeps berating her - he's sick of her being sorry, next time he's not going to wait for her, if they stop they might as well go home... (I feel better about hating him again.)  She is crying- she's not stopping on purpose, she can't breathe.  With absolutely no sympathy, he tells her to quit crying. (I can't help but wonder how the cameraman feels having to film this... does he want to hit the guy, too?)

-So the other three teams get to the island and everyone is running to find the clue box... except Claire - she's having trouble keeping up and Brook is frustrated with her.
-Jill & Thomas and Nat & Kat get the clue to take the ferry to the Kowloon district, they must locate Majesty Chinese Restaurant to get their next clue. (Uh oh, restaurants are never a good sign on the race.)
-Brook & Claire get the clue and are bickering - Claire is not a runner and has to go at her own pace - Brook mutters, "God forbid you go at anyone else's." bicker bicker bicker.

-Jill & Thomas and the doctors are back on the ferry - he's hoping to leave Brook & Claire behind but they just make it - Brook wants to hug it out.

-Nick & Vicki are on the way to the island and he's being Mr. Negative (as usual) saying they have the worst luck... She's asking him to try and think positively (maybe his head will explode... we can hope.)  He says he wished they never came - he's never had so much stress in his life.
-They get to the Island and run for the clue box.

- The other three teams arrive in Kowloon and get taxis to Majesty Chinese Restaurant.  Nat & Kat are the first inside where there is bad karaoke and get the clue: ROADBLOCK - Who's feeling peckish?
-Using chopsticks, one team member will have to pick through a huge buffet table packed with food looking for one of five fake food items (for example, platter full of prawns - one of them is fake - but they all look real - this is an evil challenge) and to make matters worse - they have to eat everything they pick up until they successfully find a fake item.
-Nat is going to do the task (it's not vegetarian food) - and she is eating.
-Jill & Thomas arrive - Thomas is going to do it for them.
-Brook & Claire get there and Claire assumes they have to sing karaoke so she volunteers to do the task - then finds out it involves eating... and apparently she's a very picky eater...(Have fun with that one.)  Brook, of course is cheering her on and leading the whole place in a dance and chant - she's such a ham.

-Nat finds the first fake food item - a piece of salmon sashimi - they get the clue to go to Avenue of the Stars and look for the statue of Bruce Lee, where they'll find the next clue.  They are in a cab - Nat knows they got lucky, that Roadblock can take a long time.

-Nick & Vicki still on the ferry - she's trying to be positive - he's silent and fuming.
-Thomas & Claire are eating - a lot.  Brook tells her to do something - "I'm still chewing"... they're still the Bickersons this episode.

-Nat & Kat get to the statue of Bruce Lee and get the clue for the DETOUR - Ding Ding or Sampan.
-In Ding Ding - they board a 100yr old tram system (double-decker buses) and on a certain stretch of the route they have to find three signs that, when put together, will tell them the next Pit Stop - Pit Stop/Statue/Square - But if the ride ends before they know where to go they'll have to make a return trip and start again.
-In Sampan - they have to pick up a wooden birdcage with parakeets in it, then board a sampan - a traditional covered boat used for trade - they will then head out into the harbour and look for a boat with a matching registration number to the tag on their birdcage.  When they find the right boat, they'll trade the birds for the clue to the Pit Stop.
-Nat & Kat decide to go with the birds (Sampan).

-Back at the restaurant, Thomas finds a fake prawn and they head out.  Brook tells Claire, "That's okay, now you can concentrate." (What do you think she was doing?)

-Nat & Kat get to the dock area - pick themselves some parakeets and head down to the sampans - they choose the lady driver and head out into the harbour.  It's now full dark so they're using large flashlights to try and read the numbers on the many, many boats.  It's slow going.

-Jill & Thomas get to the Bruce Lee statue and get the clue to the Detour - he says they do Ding Ding - so they do Ding Ding.

-Nick & Vicki arrive at the restaurant and she says she has to do the task (um... hasn't she done more of them?)
-Brook tells us Claire's supposed to be on a diet for her wedding - they show Claire scarfing down food - she has to eat whatever she picks up - and she seems to be touching everything.

-Jill & Thomas get on the ding ding and there are a ton of signs along the route - they have no idea what they're looking for - and totally miss all three of the signs they need to see.  Pit Stop - Statue - Square. (How bout looking for signs in English?)

-Back at the restaurant - Vicki is balking, says she can't eat this stuff... and Claire is warning she's too full and is going to throw up... then she bolts for the can.  Nick thinks that's funny and laughs (wow, charming.)
-Claire is puking more than she has ever puked before - Brook comes in to check on her and Claire says she doesn't know how she'll go on, there may be more puking.
-Nick is in a good mood now - Vicki asks Claire if she's okay and he yells at her not to worry about her - just keep looking.
-Claire's ordeal has sharpened her resolve and she finds a piece of fake octopus!  Pandemonium!  Brook whips everyone in the restaurant into a frenzy - Nick's not smiling now (I wish Vicki had made him to this task so he wouldn't have another thing to blame on her.)  Brook & Claire head out for the Bruce Lee statue.

-Nat & Kat still haven't found the matching boat.
-Jill & Thomas get to the end of the route without seeing any of the signs and decide to switch tasks.

-Vicki is having trouble stomaching the sushi - Nick is yelling instructions at her - (I'd tell him...well,  I think we all know what I'd tell him.)

-Jill & Thomas have switched tasks and meet up with the Doctor's on the harbour - they confer that both tasks are horrible... and continue on looking for their matching registration numbers.

-Brook & Claire get the clue for the Detour and are also doing the Sampans.

-Jill finds the registration number on their birdcage right away - SERIOUSLY? - They get the clue: Pit Stop Statue Square - (Wow, they are lucky.)
-The Doctor's finally find their boat too and get the clue for the Pit Stop.
-Jill & Thomas get back to the dock first and have some trouble finding a taxi that knows where to go - as they are asking all the cabs, Nat & Kat get back and jump in the first cab they see.  Jill shrieks at Thomas to just get in the car.  Nat & Kat's cabbie wants to stop to help his comrade with directions and they 'no no no' him - we're in a race.

-Brook & Claire get their birds and choose a sampan - and soon find out how difficult it is to find the numbers in the dark.
-Vicki is still eating - "I hate Chinese food." - He's  telling her to stop chewing and just swallow it (Right - shut up!)  And Vicki is now the one running for the bathroom.  He comes in and wants to just quit - let's take the 4 hr penalty - this is stupid (he's a pouty baby).  She doesn't want to quit, goes back out there and finds a fake mussel!  Good for her.  They take off for Bruce Lee.

-Brook & Claire feel like they're looking for a needle in a haystack.
-Nick & Vicki also decide to do the sampan.
-Brook & Claire finally find their boat and get the clue to the Pit Stop.
-Nick & Vicki are out in the harbour and he's being Little Mary Sunshine, as usual.  He just wants to quit, this is stupid.  He says he just wants to choke someone and pitch the birds overboard.  He lies down and goes to sleep right there on the boat.  Vicki can't do this by herself - trying to search all the boats in the dark alone - she doesn't want to quit but he literally abandoned her.  She says it makes her kinda mad - KINDA? - She's given 110% today and she's tired too - (I have to stop commenting because I have nothing nice to say and I try not too use too much profanity in these recaps.)  She has no choice, they are taking the SIX HOUR penalty for not completing the Detour.  He's still complaining, "Every bit of today sucked."

Here's How They Finished:
1) Nat & Kat - won a trip for 2 to Rio de Janeiro - they are really proud and happy to be doing this together.
2) Jill & Thomas - they say they're very happy (but they're mift they lost the lead to the Doctors.)
3) Brook & Claire - Is this our top 3?
4) Nick & Vicki - **NON-ELIMINATION** WHAT!!!???!!! (Oh, I was mad - he does not deserve to be there anymore - come on!)  But Phil did say they will face a Speed Bump next leg and they still have a six hour penalty for not completing the Detour... Vicki says his temper makes it ten times harder - he says he wants to be better to her (whatever.)  (If he starts complaining that they have the worst luck again, I'm going to have to look him up and kick his butt myself... to be last on 2 non-elimination rounds is the definition of lucky.)

-Next week - North Korea - white water rafting and speed skating... and we'll see who is the final 3!

Have a great week everyone,

Coleen
