The Amazing Race 25 - Oct 31/14 Episode Recap

I Feel Like I Just Kissed a Goat

Last week we said goodbye to Survivors Keith & Whitney after he got into a fight with Mama Shelley and she U-Turned them - Race karma took them swiftly.

This week, the Cyclists Kym & Alli were first to head out at 8:15am, they are remaining in Marrakesh and must go to work with the horse-drawn carriages - first they must deliver hay to the stable and then travel by carriage to town where they can reward their horses with an apple and find their marked Ford Fiestas.
-The girls are trying to find out where they need to go, none of the cab drivers seem to know.

-Surfers Adam and Bethany, 8:16am - the first cab driver they ask knows where they need to go - and they get a cab just before Kym & Alli (or so they made it seem.)

-Tim & Te Jay - 8:30am - they are trying to walk to the stables, going through the narrow, twisty streets.  These two can't believe how physical all the other teams are, professional wrestler, professional surfers, professional dentists who body build on the side.  If they can't keep up physically they're going to have to start using more strategy.

-Shelley & Nici - 8:34am - the girls also try to walk to the stables - and they are trying not to fight after that big blow up at the mat a couple legs ago, that's not the type of relationship they want to have.
-Wrestlers Brooke & Robbie - 8:39am - they are instantly lost.
-Dentists Jim & Misti - 8:41am - they gather the wrestlers and ask for directions - find out the stables are 10km away and both teams jump in cabs... Wrestlers following the Dentists.

El Massi
-Surfers are the first team to arrive and Adam grabs two big sacks of hay that they have to deliver to the stables.
-Cyclists get there right after them and each grab a sack of hay, Kym, "Hay's not the heavy." Then they pick it up... Alli, "Liar!"

-Scientists, Maya & Amy head out at 8:42am - they are good at making up time in the Detours and Roadblocks but it's the getting there and directions thing that is biting them in the butt.
Stables - the Surfers find the stables and Bethany has to climb the ladder and haul up the sacks, which she does, with one arm, with no problem.  Then they get in a carriage to ride to the cars just as the Cyclists come by with their hay.
-Just as Kym & Alli are getting in their carriage, the Dentists drive by in their cab.

-Back at the bazaar, Tim & Te Jay have finally figured out they need to take a taxi and are kicking themselves for wasting so much time wandering around.
-Speaking of wandering around, Shelley & Nici and the Scientists are still doing just that and meet up asking each other if they have directions... (well, why doesn't somebody ask for directions?)

-The Dentists deliver their hay, the Wrestlers (after some showboating from Brooke - when she dropped her sack she also body slammed it for the camera) also delivered their hay... then Tim & Te Jay showed up at the stable but they still had to go get the hay first (things not going smoothly for T&T today.)

Carriage ride - Adam & Bethany are enjoying the romantic carriage ride which brings them back to the bazaar... where the Scientists and Mom & Daughter descend on them asking where they found everything - and finally the Surfers are the ones to tell them they need to get a taxi. (oof.)
Adam & Bethany get the next clue which tells them to drive to a specific pottery stand and look for their next clue.  First they have to find the marked Ford Fiestas behind the mosque and then they are going to have to ask for directions.
-Kym & Alli are right behind them followed by the Dentists and the Wrestlers.  All of them are worried when they see they will have to drive themselves.

Back at the stables, Tim & Te Jay can't find the marked feed station to get their sacks of hay.  Maya & Amy show up and steal bags from one stable and just take them next door to the next stable.  (That's not right!)  They realize it though and set out to find the feed station.
-Shelley & Nici get there and their cab driver dropped them off at the feed station, so they grab the hay and now have to find the stables.
-Tim & Te Jay come along and see they have hay and make a deal with Mom & Daughter, if they tell them where to get the hay, they'll lead them to the stables.  Seems like a good deal... and by the time the Scientists come by, no one is telling them where the hay is... and of course the girls can't find it.
-Luckily, a couple local kids take pity on them and lead them to the hay.
-And lucky for Mom & daughter that Tim & Te Jay showed them the stables or they never would have found those.

Pottery Stand
-Well, in the cars on the way are the Surfers who can't find it and they know the Cyclists are super good with directions... and to prove them right we see Kym & Alli are the first team to find the pottery stand... but then they have to try and find the clue box among the acres of pottery.
-It doesn't take them long though, the clue box is in the hut and they read the clue for the DETOUR - Camp or Cream
-In Camp - they have to set up a traditional Berber tent to the exact specifications of these nomadic people.  Once the judge is satisfied everything is in the proper place, they'll get their next clue.
-In Cream - they must make their way into the Casbah and milk a goat, getting enough milk to fill the pan.  Then they must churn the milk Berber style - looks like it's in an inflated skin or something - to make goat butter.  Once they've made a 3oz ball of butter, the farmer will hand them their next clue. (I would not choose milking a goat, nope.)
-Cyclists choose Cream - Kym thinks making butter sounds fun (ugh.)
-Dentists are the next team to the pottery stand - they choose Camp - Jim wants to take animals right out of it (I hear you, McFakerson!)
-Surfers are right behind them and Bethany says she wants to do Cream. (Really?)

Back at the bazaar: Tim & Te Jay, Shelley & Nici and Maya & Amy have finished the carriage ride and are all reading that they have to drive themselves to the pottery stand... uh oh.

Pottery Stand - The Wrestlers also decide to do Cream. (I'm shocked so many of them are going for the goat milking...haven't they had enough of animal challenges?)

Cream - Kym & Alli arrive and jump right in, after watching a demonstration, they catch a goat from the herd... flock... what are a group of goats called? (Google search says: Tribe, Trip or Herd) and Alli proves deft at milking (Good on ya.)

Camp - The Dentists run in and scope out the tent where the Berbers are hanging out and making music (fun) - we'll see if Jim can set up camp better than he did the parking spot in Denmark.

Cream - The Surfers have arrived and Adam grabbed a goat by the horn for Bethany to try and milk one-handed.  She's not having much luck.
-The Cyclists realize it's going to take the milk from more than one goat in order to fill their pan... (yeah, this is going to take a while...) as they go to catch their next goat.

Pottery Stand - Well, the girl-girl teams of Shelley & Nici and Maya & Amy are hopelessly lost and Tim & Te Jay were able to find the pottery stand.  Tim wants to do Camp because if he sees another goat he thinks he may puke (Ha! Exactly!)

Cream - Kym & Alli finally have enough milk and then they get a demonstration of what they need to do to churn the butter.  First they pour the milk into the animal skin, blow into it to inflate it and then shake it back and forth as it's suspended by ropes, to churn the butter.
-Alli blows through her shirt instead of putting her mouth on the skin... yeah, I bet it's a little nasty.

Camp - Jim is busy counting off how far apart the stakes are and setting up the tent - Misti is just holding the poles inside... that's the way he likes it - he is Super(fake)Man after all :).

Back at Cream the Cyclists realize that it's going to take forever to churn the butter by this method.  Kym speaks French so she asks the guys there how long they have to churn and she's told 45 minutes.  They think they can set up a camp in that time and decide they're going to switch.
-Bethany also wonders if they should switch... but they're sticking it out for now.

Camp - Dentists are getting a lesson on sewing the sides on the tent when the Cyclists show up.  They speculate if the girls got lost or if they switched Detours.  And Misti, with the pasted on pageant smile tells us how Jim went to medical school before dental school and he was an expert suturist. (Yeah, we get it, you both think that Jim is the most amazing everything... but my question is, if he went to medical school, why isn't he a doctor?)

-Kym is carrying a heavy rug over to start setting up their tent and asks Alli if she's sure she doesn't want to just finish what they started and Alli is sure they can do this faster... okay then.

Cream - the Wrestlers show up and Robbie isn't comfortable with animals, he leaves the catching and milking of the goats to Brooke (really? Yup, he's scared of the goats... that's great.)

Camp - The Dentists run out of side rugs to sew on their tent and then realize that they've put the wrong rugs down on the bottom... they have to fix it.
-The Cyclists are too short to get the tent over the poles and Kym is not being helpful, she's mad they switched.  Alli finally realizes this is not going to be faster and they decide to go back to churning their butter.

Cream - Bethany & Adam finally have enough milk to start churning, the Wrestlers are still milking and Kym & Alli return to churn.  Adam is so glad they didn't switch.

Pottery Stand - the Scientists finally found the clue and they are going to do the butter.
-Shelley & Nici are still totally lost and in their new determination not to fight have probably gone way farther than they should have... finally Shelley agrees to turn around.

Cream and Camp are still working at their tasks.  Adam and Kym are singing along with the local guy adding English verses to his song... my favourite from Kym, "My mother taught me how to shake it but it's never turned into butter before." (Haha.)

-The Dentists get their camp judged and they are the first team to finish the Detour - they get the clue to drive to Terres D'amanar and search for their next clue.  (There will be no living with these two if they come in first again - I prefer the humble McFakersons.)

-Tim & Te Jay finally show up to start setting up camp.

Then we see Shelley & Nici are still lost in Morocco... so very lost that they don't even know what to do (I don't think you can take a penalty if you can't even find the task.)
-Finally they stop at a local business and get directions, I think maybe they were afraid no one would speak English, I'm not sure - but three hours later, they are finally headed to the pottery stand.

Cream - Brooke & Robbie finally have enough milk to start the churning and when Robbie inflates the animal skin we get the title of the episode, "Ew, that was so gross.  I feel like I just kissed a goat."
-The Scientists finally show up and get to trying to catch some well endowed goats.  Everyone else is still there churning.

Camp - Tim & Te Jay are under the tent trying to get the poles erected and well, the sounds they were making, I hope it was the tent they were erecting (if you know what I mean ;)).

Cream - Bethany & Adam decide it's time to see if they have enough butter - and they easily have 3oz - they are the first churners to get the clue to drive to Terres D'amanar.

Terres D'Amanar
-McFakerson Dentists arrive and get the clue to the ROADBLOCK: Who has the knack for sliding things into place?
-I guess Jim's slapping her on the ass means Misti is doing this one - and we find out they have to cross canyons on suspended plank bridges and on ziplines - then find a puzzle they have to complete quickly not to be overtaken, and then zip-line back.
-Misti started out excited to do this one until she got to the bridge section where there were no planks and the wind started blowing - but she's a trooper, she says she's afraid of heights but did the whole thing with that huge smile on her face.  Across the bridge, then the zipline - and it's puzzle time - so she has a frame and some strips of wood she has to arrange into a picture.

Pottery stand - YES! Shelley & Nici finally found it.

Camp - Tim & Te Jay are starting to pile in the pillows and hope everyone is still churning butter...

Cream - ...which they are.  The Scientists finally have enough milk to start the churning.  Robbie is getting his workout in by "rowing" the milk.  And the Cyclists get rejected - not enough butter.
-We find out that Maya is getting her PhD in milk fat (is that a thing?) and she knows it's not about going quickly but more the force you have sloshing it forward.
-And the churners are speculating on where Mom & Daughter are? No one knows... lost in Morocco.

Camp - Tim & Te Jay finish and get the clue to head for the Roadblock. (Yup, looks like camp was the way to go.)

Roadblock - Misti gets her puzzle together quickly and she is zip-lining back - wow, that is a long zip-line.  They get the clue to the Pit Stop in the form of a picture... which they have to figure out is Casbah D'If.
-As the Dentists are leaving, they pass Adam & Bethany just arriving at the Roadblock... and the Surfers figure that Bethany can do this one.  Out she goes on the bridge and as usual, no qualms, she just gets it done.  The puzzle is a little harder for her to hold it all together with one hand.

Back at Cream - the Cyclists finally make enough butter to get the next clue and head out.
-The Scientists get their butter weighed and they get the clue.
-The Wrestlers are pissed cause they were there way longer than the Scientists so they get their butter weighed and head out but are worried they are last... until they see Mom & Daughter driving in and Robbie celebrates!  YES!

Roadblock - Tim & Te Jay get there and Tim declares that Te Jay is good with puzzles... but Te Jay tells the camera, "but I'm not very good with heights." (Uh oh.)  Te Jay starts out slow and steady repeating his mantra, "I'm on the Amazing Race, that's what I'm doing this for."
-Bethany has taken off her shoes so she can use her feet to help get the puzzle together - and she does it (of course she does.)
-Cyclists arrive and it's Alli doing the Roadblock for them.
-Te Jay gets to the puzzle and he's Oh My Gosh-ing some more... it doesn't look like he's really all that good at puzzles.
-Alli starts out almost running across the plank bridge - heights don't bother her at all so this will be nothing - we'll see if she can puzzle.
-Bethany completes the zip-line back and they are off with their picture of the Pit Stop.
-Alli catches up to Te Jay at the puzzle and he says they can team up if she wants and breeze through - she says sure, let's do it (and he successfully found someone to help him with the puzzle - smart.)

Cream - Shelley & Nici are churning their butter.

Terres D'amanar
-Scientist Maya is saying, "keep your eyes peeled," as they drive right by the sign.
-The Wrestlers see them driving by but actually see the sign and turn in... but it doesn't take long for the girls to see they lost the Wrestlers and turn around (Yes, they did see something you missed.)
-And Robbie elects Brooke to kill this Roadblock (I think these two are just big scaredy cats) - she is not okay with heights - there is lots of complaining and whining, "I don't like it...."
-Alli figures out the puzzle and helps Te Jay get his done... and they are out of there before the next team arrives... which is Brooke and I wouldn't be too worried about Brooke doing the puzzle fast (sorry, but the Wrestlers are the first to admit they are not Mensa material.)
-Scientist Maya is on the bridge and she doesn't seem to have any trouble with the height - she's trucking along.
-Brooke, true to form, doesn't even understand what she needs to do to get the puzzle together.

Cream - Shelley & Nici have finished their butter and heading for the Roadblock - they just hope someone else is struggling so maybe they can catch up.

Roadblock - Brooke is having a meltdown. Maya gets to the puzzle and all Brooke keeps saying is, "I don't get it, what do I do?"
-Maya is being supportive, telling her not to quit, but she isn't helping her with the puzzle either... turns out Brooke figured it out before Maya got hers done (Brooke just needs not to freak out so much and things would probably go smoother for her.)  She zip-lines back.
-Seems Maya could have used Brooke's help getting the puzzle done - but finally she figures it out and they head for the Pit Stop.

-Shelley & Nici finally get to the Roadblock and since Nici has done the last two - it's Shelley "gettin' her Indiana Jones on."

Here's How They Finished:
1) Dentists Misti & Jim - they won a trip to Brazil. They are back on top where they [think] they belong.
2) Surfers Bethany & Adam - they've had such good communication all day and she killed the Roadblock, he's just so proud of her. (Phil tells the guy with chicken on his head that they're in love. But I'm pretty sure he had that figured out, they're so obviously making cow eyes at each other.)
3) Kym & Alli - I think they were just happy the day was over.
4) Tim & Te Jay - one of the birds lands on Te Jay's hand, he shakes it off and then it lands on Tim's hat and he whines, "I don't like it, get it off." but it pecks Te Jay and Tim's on his own (Haha.)
5) Brooke & Robbie - Phil congratulates them on getting half way through the Amazing Race. "This is only half way?"
6) Amy & Maya - Maya's got the dove on her head and Phil tells her she's making it look good.
7) Shelley & Nici - **ELIMINATED** Phil says at least they seem to have a better relationship than they did a couple legs ago.  And yes, they are glad they were able to strengthen their relationship but mama Shelley says she thinks they maybe should have kept fighting if only for this to keep the competitive edge strong (I agree, often it's the couples the fight the most that go the farthest.)

And with Shelley & Nici leaving, that takes: Miranne D., Denise R., Krista H., Tori K. and Elaine R. out of the pool.

I'm not sure what's happening next week as they showed a preview of the remaining six legs... who's going to win the Amazing Race?  (Please not the Dentists, Please not the Dentists... though they do seem nicer than I thought... but no, I will not soften towards them.)

Have a great week everybody,

Coleen
