Survivor Millennials vs Gen X - December 7/16 Episode Recap

Slayed the Survivor Dragon

Hold on to your hats everyone, this was a packed episode with two immunities, two tribal councils and two eliminations, all in one hour.  They also finally let us know that next Wednesday, Dec 14, will be the finale - with 6 people still left, it's going to be Survivor-ific.  But I'm getting ahead of myself.

Last week we saw Will flip on Zeke and Adam play his hidden idol for Hannah when he didn't need to - but it was enough to put Zeke on the jury, and left Jay with the only hidden idol still in play.

Vinaka - Night 33
-They returned to camp with Will feeling like the conquering hero.  He went to tribal a boy but returned a man and he feels like he's in a position to flip flop back and forth enough to win the game (uh, what? Flip flopping never wins the game.)
-Bret & Sunday are flabbergasted, why would Will take out Zeke before David? Of course, that's just sour grapes talking, Bret knows he's now got to try and find a way to keep himself in the game.

Vinaka - Day 34
-Bret & Sunday approach Adam about teaming up.  They all agree that Jay, Dave and Will are the three biggest threats in the game (I love how Dave, the 98lb weakling is such a threat, brains may win the day) - but Adam is listening and very willing to make a move with Bret & Sunday, it's just a matter of who they can vote out next Will, Jay or David.

IMMUNITY CHALLENGE #1 (Day 34)
They have to race out to a stack of discs, then balancing them on a stick, cross a balance beam, manoeuver them through a wire maze and dump them on the end table.  Once they have all ten discs at the end table, they have to roll them through a small opening and down into the finish.  First person to get all 10 discs in the final line wins immunity.
-Will is pretty much out of this from the beginning cause he cannot get over the balance beam.
-We get down to Jay, David and Bret rolling for immunity... Jay finds the rhythm and it's JAY winning immunity.

Vinaka - Day 34
-Jay has won three of the last four challenges and Ken figures it would have been him tonight if he didn't have immunity (Great grasp of the obvious there dude.)
-Jay and Will are talking, Jay feels like David can't win challenges but Ken can and Will feels like David is a weasel that will win the whole thing if they let him get to the end, Ken will not - So, Will wants to vote out David and Jay agrees.
-Will is getting all full of himself, figuring everyone wants his input, he's running the show and he and Jay go and talk to Hannah & Sunday about showing no fear and cutting off the head of the snake by voting out David.  Bret agrees, they all know they would lose against David so they are all down to vote him out... or so it seems.
-David is watching all the conversations happening and he's feeling super insecure... and he's also super dirty and skinny, I'd throw him change on the street, just saying.
-Adam seeks council with Will & Jay as they lounge in the hammock. He confirms that they are voting David and that Bret & Sunday are in, so of course Adam says he is also on the same page - but then he tells the camera he does not want Will to be deciding his fate in this game.  Now that Will thinks he has the power, he's more of a threat than David and he's gots to go.
-Adam goes and talks to Bret and just lays it out, "I'm voting Will tonight," and Bret & Sunday jump on board.  Bret thinks Adam has been playing a smart game and they have common goals, they will hitch their wagon to his star.
-Adam tells Hannah that he's voting Will with Bret & Sunday but she's apprehensive because Will saved their bacon by voting with them in the last tribal, she doesn't want Survivor karma to bite her in the butt... but then you can't be all wishy-washy either. (Hannah is also super dirty, she and David could really use some water time.)  Hannah goes on that Will saved them from the Zeke mob and she feels she owes him, but then David pulled a rock for her, so she also feels like she owes him... (phew, this is a complicated game alright.)
-Adam & Hannah have more of the power position this time - Bret & Sunday are in a weak position and will vote how he wants them to vote, this is where Adam starts making the moves he needs to in order to win the game (he tells us.)

TRIBAL COUNCIL #1
-Hannah says all the people left up there have worked together and have worked against each other so at this point you want to work with people that want to work with you and take out the bigger threats in the game.
-Adam agrees you have to think about who you want to sit beside in the end but you also need to think about what moves you need to make to get there... (Then there is thunder and the rain starts falling) Adam continues that all the people on the jury made some great moves in the game but they may have also contributed to them now being on the jury.
-The Double-Edged sword is you make a big move, congratulations, you are now a bigger target.
-Blah, blah, blah - it's raining, they are basically saying to Will, you made a big move now you're going home and I think Jeff cut it short because his hair got all wet (haha)

Time to Vote:
They don't show how anyone voted.

Tallying the Votes:
No one plays a hidden immunity idol (cause Jay has immunity.)

Votes:
David - 1, 2
Will - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5... that's enough and WILL is the next member of the jury.  He took it well, with a smile and a good luck to everyone.
And with Will's elimination, that takes Lois L. and Carol-Anne D. out of the pool.
Will's final thoughts: This is the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me so far in my life (no duh, you're 18.)

Vinaka - Night 34
-Jay feels like the black plague, whenever someone tries to make a play with him, they end up going home.  But he's a fighter, he's still got a hidden idol and there are still more immunities to come but he also wants to talk to Adam.
-Jay & Adam respect each other but agree it is a yin-yang, they love each other but hate each other.  Jay asks his end game, because taking David to the end would be a mistake (so would taking you, bro).  Adam tells the camera he's trying to make Jay feel as comfortable as possible with him and agrees that he's going to take David out next but in Adam's mind, Jay has got to go home.

IMMUNITY CHALLENGE #2 (Day 35)
This is a new one.  They will have to solve a block puzzle but there is a twist, they will use a Survivor pinball table as a timer of sorts.  They have to roll a ball up to the top of the tilted table, the ball then bounces down through the nails protruding from the board (think Plinko) and when it gets to the bottom, they have to catch the ball before it drops into the series of chutes below, where it will very slowly roll through the slightly tilted troughs to the bottom.  The whole time the ball is making it's way through the chutes, they cannot work on the puzzle (and it moves slowwwwly - how frustrating!)
-So this is a challenge of divided concentration, you have to figure out the puzzle but be aware of the ball behind you.
-Off they go and it soon becomes apparent how challenging this is, once you get into the groove on the puzzle, the ball hits the bottom of the table and if you miss it, you have to wait.  This happens to all of them more than once... until we get down to the two with the most puzzle done; Ken and David.
-Adam decides he's going to help Ken to keep David (and Jay) from winning immunity so he abandons the puzzle and keeps watch on Ken's timer to let him know when to catch the ball.  (Jay is not happy about that) - with this help KEN wins Immunity!

-Ken never acknowledges that Adam helped him win, it's weird, He says he feels good having the idol around his neck because he finds it hard watching Jay, a younger version of himself, win all the time. (Ken's an idiot.)

Vinaka - Day 35
-They get back to camp and when Ken & David go to get firewood Jay is grumbling that Ken didn't win, Adam helped him.  Adam says he just didn't want David to win (but he tells the camera his biggest fear was Jay or David getting immunity, if he couldn't do it himself, he was glad it was Ken.)
-Jay tells everyone there (Hannah, Sunday, Bret & Adam) that he is voting David tonight and appeals to them to just let him stay longer than those two (David & Ken, I assume. Pinky & The Brain.)

-Hannah goes to find David & Ken who have decided that they should vote for Bret because they know Jay has a hidden idol still and hopefully they can flush that and still take Bret out.  Hannah makes a pitch to vote Sunday instead of Bret because Sunday has set herself up as the ultimate goat.  Who wouldn't want to take Sunday to the end, she's done nothing and would not win.  They agree.

-Adam talks to Hannah & Ken says Jay is two immunities away from winning the game so he has to vote for Jay tonight and if he plays his idol, who are the other three votes for?  Dave.  (Why would you pitch voting out David to Ken? They are Master and Blaster, Ken will not vote out his closest friend.)  Hannah suggests they could vote for Sunday but that means Jay could remain with immunity in his pocket.  Adam is adamant that either Jay or David has to go home.

-Adam joins Jay in the hammock and tells him he is going to have to play his idol, they have a collegial laugh about it as Jay asks, Do you have to strip me of everything? I hate you.
-Jay tells the camera that Adam always lies to him so if he doesn't think he actually needs to play the idol, he's not going to.
-Jay is telling Adam it's the two of them to the end, if Adam will please just get him there... and then it turns super serious when Adam tells him that his Mom is dying of cancer and he can't waste his opportunity out there. Jay is crying and Adam is crying and they're trying not to be obvious about it but it really was a very touching moment - they bonded over the love of their mothers... and know they both will do whatever it takes to win.  Apparently Jay's mom has had brain aneurisms so he's lived in fear of her dying for years as well.  Adam's not a weasel in Jay's book anymore, "he's a good freakin' dude, he's a warrior!"

-Hannah goes to Adam and says she thinks she's voting Sunday tonight, to which he whines that he hates her - but Hannah's argument is that if they flush Jay's idol and save David tonight, that will make them a solid four.  Adam wants to take out the visible threats and Hannah understands that but she loves David.  Hannah also knows that someone who makes decisions and can convince others to their way of thinking, is someone who wins Survivor. (Resume building again.)

TRIBAL COUNCIL #2
-David says friendships and bonds are incredibly important at this stage of the game.
-Jay agrees, who is more dangerous, a 'challenge threat' who is alone or one that has the necklace around his neck and friends that have his back? (ooh, throwing some shade a Ken there.)
-David says someone like Jay can also be looked at as a free agent who can be exploited by someone wanting to make a move.  David has been seen as a threat and he has relied heavily on his friendships.
-Adam agrees that David is a threat because he works hard around camp, he's liked and has made a great transformation and that is what juries like to root for.
-Hannah says a lot of discussion has been around who are the threats to win in the end.
-Sunday thinks that no one there thinks she'll get any jury votes - she thinks she will and they are underestimating her. (Uh, I don't think so.)  Hannah cringes when Jeff jumps on people wanting to take Sunday to the end.
-Adam agrees that a lot is based on the jury's perception and who you want to sit next to in the end.  (Boring tribal this one.)

Time to Vote:
They don't show how anyone voted.

Tallying the votes:
Anyone want to play a hidden immunity idol?  And Jay cannot take the risk, he tells Jeff he has to be safe rather than sorry and he plays his hidden immunity idol.  No votes for Jay will count.

Votes:
Jay - does not count
David - 1, 2
Sunday - 1, 2, 3, And Jay is kicking himself, "I knew it. I didn't have to use it." and 4 votes for SUNDAY means she is the next member of the jury - and that also takes Shane B. and Lynne B. out of the pool.

Sunday's final thoughts: She says going home now, so close to the end, is gut-wrenching but she knows her family will be proud of how she played (make her stop talking, that accent is unpleasant.)

Next week - Wednesday December 14th is the two hour finale of Survivor Millennials vs Gen X.  Fittingly there are three of each generation left (and Hannah is the last woman standing!)

So here is who is in the running for the moolah:
Adam: Sharon R. and Cindy M.
Hannah: Trish W. and Jeff T.
Jay: Gillian H. and Melissa G.
Bret: Lee B. and Lindsay J.
Ken: Shira C. and Roxanne S.
David: Cara & Alex L. and Cindi C.

I have next week off of work but I can come in to pay the winners if anyone will be around.

Have a great almost weekend,

Coleen
