You're Taking My Tan Off
Last week the greased pole proved too much for T & T to handle and unfortunately Tim & Te Jay were eliminated.
On Friday it was the Surfers heading out first as they had used the Express Pass in the last leg and came in first - they read the clue that they are heading to Singapore - once there they have to catch a ferry to an island, run a mile inland to a coconut stand and then drink the coconut water to get their next clue **Caution** Double U-Turn Ahead!
- The plan is still to U-Turn the Cyclists (hatched by Wrestler Brooke last leg) but Bethany & Adam aren't looking forward to U-Turning anyone.
-They head to a travel agency and we learn that they are all pre-booked on flights to Paris but they are responsible for booking on to Singapore and if they are able to find flights that are more advantageous they may book them.
-To move things along let me just tell you, the Surfers are not rocket surgeons and they proved it by just booking the first flight offered from Paris to Singapore and they didn't check any other connections from Malta. Bethany, "I can't imagine there would be an earlier flight."
-Then the Dentists show up and don't even double check, they book the same flights as the Surfers... all is good until the Cyclists show up and are pushy and ask the agent to look at all possibilities and they find better flights not going through Paris, they will get in 40 minutes earlier than the Surfers and Dentists - this had Dentist Jim's blood boiling... mostly because he didn't double-check himself and we find out a new rule this season is that they are not allowed to change their tickets once they book a flight - ouch. The one saving grace for the Dentists is they still have their Save - so they won't be going home today.
-Once the Dentists and Surfers leave the travel agency despondent over their screw up, the Cyclists do a happy dance cause they're arriving before their nemesis' team the Dentists (it was a little obnoxious). Kym knows they still have the Save so can't figure out what they're so upset about (for one, super competitive and two, they all want to U-Turn you, and won't be able to do that from behind you.)
-When the Scientists show up at the travel agency, the Cyclists tell the girls what flight they're on to use them as a speed bump to keep the Dentists behind them. The Candy girls thank them for their help but still plan on U-Turning the Cyclists.
-And finally the Wrestlers are last to the travel agency but by then the agent knows what to offer them and the Wrestlers also get on the earlier flights bypassing Paris and going through Rome.
Singapore
-First flight lands and all three teams are on the same ferry for the Island - then it's a jog for the coconut stand - Cyclists down their coconut first and read the clue for the Fast Forward - the Wave House - they will have to Ride the Flow Rider (which is kind of like surfing but in a man made forced current area) for 2 minutes - Alli says they won't do it.
-The Wrestlers read the clue (not the FF) to head to the Sky Park Hotel to find their next clue.
-They all kind of confer on what they're going to do and Kym says they are going to do the Fast Forward because no one else will think they're doing it if they already have a lead (what?) and this also throws a wrench into the plan to U-Turn the Cyclists cause they would be by-passing the U-Turn.
-The Cyclists ask if the Scientists are going to U-Turn the Surfers and Maya says they have to ... (but do you, do you really?)
-The Cyclists take off running back for the boat and Kym is talking it out that the FF is risky but she can't fathom something so hard they can't do it.
-The Wrestlers and Scientists are hanging back because Brooke has to pout about her plan going up in smoke. Maya tells her they just have to stick together and get the tasks done and they'll be fine.
-The 2nd flight teams pass the Cyclists on the ferry going the other direction so they know how far apart they are and the Cyclists are more determined to do the FF because they don't think anyone else will try it knowing the girls already have a lead. (But isn't that why you want the FF? I guess she means everyone will assume the first team will go for the FF and not bother trying.)
-The Surfers and Dentists drink their coconuts and both teams say no way to the FF.
-The Scientists and Wrestlers get to their next destination and have to head up to the 57th floor of the Garden in the Sky hotel - where they get the clue to the ROADBLOCK - Who wants to be a funambulist? (Say what? ) That's a tightrope walker. They will have to walk across a tightrope 600ft above the ground from one tower of the hotel to another, pick up their clue and walk back (oh hell no!)
-Maya, the eternal optimist, and Brooke, the exact opposite, are the two doing this one.
-The Cyclists ask for the cab driver to use his smart phone in the cab and they look up the Wave House to find out it's surfing... Alli has a bad feeling about this and Kym tells her to please be positive.
-On the ferry back, the Surfers read the FF just for fun and see it's the Wave House... If they weren't in last they would be going straight there - Bethany's surfed artificial wake before Adam knows it's hard, but he has tried it once before...
-Then they show the Cyclists again, "Hopefully the Surfers don't show up."
-Maya does the tightrope walking with a smile on her face the whole way and Brooke is mad she did so well. The Scientists take off for the city square to find their next clue... and Brooke is complaining (I should just say she's breathing, it's about the same thing in her world.)
-Surfers are in a cab now... heading for the Fast Forward (OHHHH, Yes!) They know this could put them in dead last if the Cyclists already did it but they are already last so they are going to take the chance - they also want to by-pass the U-Turn.
-The Cyclists are trying their hand at the artificial surfing and, ouch, that was a face plant...
-The Surfers get to the Wave House and can't find the door (they are pretty) but finally get in and see the Cyclists bite it again.
-The girls have to wait now until the Surfers have a turn before they can try again... they should just leave, but they don't - and Adam actually falls... Ohhh, maybe they can do this.
-City square, there is a guy walking around with a red and yellow sign that will give them their next clue - but its not your typical clue box so you know that's going to throw the Wrestlers - Scientists figure it out right away and get the clue to the DETOUR: China Cups or Chili Crabs.
-In China Cups - they will have to get a deep tissue massage, skin exfoliation and then have heated glass cups suctioned onto their backs - to get their next clue.
-In Chili Crabs - they must crack hard-to-open cooked crabs smothered in chili sauce and gather 2 lbs of the crab meat to get their next clue.
-The Scientists choose the China Cups and the Wrestlers ask them where the clue is as they are leaving... the girls tell them it's in the square but don't say 'the guy with the sign has the clue' so of course, the Wrestlers don't know what to do and it's the Scientists fault. (Brooke is breathing again.)
-The Dentists get to the Roadblock and it's Big Jim doing the tightrope walking... and he's shaky as anything going across... when suddenly he loses tension on the top rope and ends up hanging by the bottom... Misti said exactly what I was thinking, "Oh sweet Jesus" (Well, I said Jebus, you know.)
-They have to reel Jim back in and he has to start over - but no whining, he's back out there (I would have had to stop for a change of shorts) - I don't think they were prepared for someone of his size to do this challenge - but do it he does - still flashing those pearly whites.
-Detour - the Candy Scientists get to China Cups and are so excited to get massaged... until it starts and the masseuse is digging her elbows into their backs (wait, what?) They are howling in pain and the masseuses are laughing (OMG.)
-Back in the square, the Wrestlers finally ask the guy with the sign and get their clue - they can't believe the Maya & Amy didn't tell them exactly what to do (sigh.)
-They also choose China Cups (good luck with that.)
-FF - the Cyclists are trying it again as the Surfers anxiously watch from the sidelines - and Kym bites it! The Surfers get a second chance and the Cyclists stay in case Adam won't get the hang of it... but he found his footing and the Cyclists finally decide to leave. The Surfers win the Fast Forward and Alli starts b*tching that she never wanted to do this in the first place and Kym bites her head off - "run the race on your own then!" (oh, trouble in paradise.)
-The Dentists get to the square and get the clue right away - they choose to do the Chili Crabs.
-Meanwhile at China cups - we hear the Scientists before we see them again- screams of agony as they get their backs exfoliated - (Is her back supposed to look like ground beef after that?)
-The Wrestlers show up and Brooke is saying she loves a hard massage, she's laughing at the Scientists and Amy wants to quit but Maya tells her she's not going anywhere.
-The Wrestlers stop laughing when the exfoliating begins... but Brooke does still laugh at Maya wailing as the cupping began (she's a little evil, I think.)
-The Dentists get to the restaurant to start the crab and it was really hot on the hands but the worst part was the guys with drums, flute and cymbals playing literally right in their ears as they were trying to shell the crab - (that would be a good way to get punched by me.)
-The Cyclists get back to the hotel and Kym is tightrope walking because she insisted they do the FF - this is her punishment - she's afraid of heights.
-Massage - while on the tables Maya is strategizing with the Wrestlers and trying to explain to them that they now have to U-Turn the Cyclists and the Surfers because they haven't seen either team and don't know which one may have won the FF. Robbie agrees they will U-Turn one of those teams but I don't think he really gets it.
-The girls finally finish the cupping torture and head to the U-Turn.
-Kym does the tightrope walking and keeps saying they are not going out like this. (You keep telling yourself that.)
-Scientists U-Turn the Surfers (? why they didn't do the Cyclists I don't know, wasn't that what everyone agreed upon? Or maybe they were leaving them for Brooke) - then they have to check possibly five Merlion statues in the city to find the next clue.
-The Wrestlers finish the cupping and get to the U-Turn and decide not to U-Turn anyone (huh? I knew they didn't understand logic.) As they're running away they say, "Wait, what if the Surfers won the FF, were we supposed to U-Turn the Cyclists?" (OMG!)
-The Dentists get their crab weighed - only 1 lb - they keep going despite the cacophony of noise - and get their 2lbs.
-The Cyclists get to the Detour clue and choose China Cups (adding insult to injury for the day.)
-The Dentists get to the U-Turn and see only the Surfers U-Turned and also choose not the U-Turn anyone - Jim says the Surfers are done... (but no one thinks, maybe we should U-Turn the Cyclists?)
-The Wrestlers head out for the Merlion statues and catch up to the Scientists who ask if they U-Turned the Cyclists - they say no and Maya is just dumbfounded - Amy tells them they need to go back, they were supposed to U-Turn the Cyclists. Brooke doesn't care that they pissed off the Candy girls, she has no intension of going back.
-The Wrestlers get to the second location of Merlion statues first and find the clue to the Pit Stop - when the Scientists get there Brooke lies to them saying the clue's not there - and Maya believes her so they don't even get out of the cab, they just head to the next location (really?) (Things are getting really cut throat, but still quite the d*ck move on Brooke's part.)
-The Cyclists are being skinned in prep for the suction... I'd almost feel sorry for them but they were also kinda jerks this leg.
-Dentists are checking the Merlion statues and get the clue at the second stop.
-Scientists still checking the Merlion statues - still no luck.
-Cyclists get to the U-Turn board and celebrate they were not U-Turned! They think maybe they should start the Merlion search at the farthest point first.
-Scientists get to the last statue and still no clue... finally they figure out they haven't seen Brooke and Rob again - they must have lied to them...
Here's How They Finished:
1) Bethany & Adam - they won a trip to Bali - the gamble of the century paid off for them.
2) Robbie & Brooke - they will use any means necessary to make sure other teams are behind them - if that means lying, too bad, so sad.
3) Misti & Jim - this was the last leg they could use the Save and it's not necessary so it's a keepsake for them to take home.
4) Maya & Amy - and a new rivalry is born - the Wrestlers did not get us out of the race!
5) Kym & Alli - **ELIMINATED** (I am kind of shocked they went out like that - it seemed greedy of them to try for the FF when they had a lead already, and it bit them in the butts.)
There was crying, they were both so disappointed, they knew they could have made it to the end but they made a bold choice and it did not pay off.
With the Cyclists eliminated, Bernice R., Lynne B., Bob L., Sia D. and Kevin R. are out of the pool. (That's got to sting.)
Next week: An infamous challenge returns - they have to drive an ox through a rice paddy (I think) - (what's up with all the animal challenges this season?, so mean.)
Oh, and FYI, the Season Finale will be December 19th!
