Get Your Sexy On
In the sixth leg of the Race, the Rockers (James & Abba) are the first team to head out at 8:30am - they read the clue that tells them to fly to Istanbul, Turkey (I think most of them will be happy to be leaving Bangladesh... if only to escape the crazy traffic) - once there, they must make their way to the ferry terminal to find their next clue.
-They're making their way to the travel agency and we learn Abba is in pain in both knees but he's not going to let it stop them.
- My new least favourite person Ryan & Abbie are the next to head out at 11:04am. They admit they will be glad to leave Dhaka, but it has given them perspective and made them appreciate what they have.
-The Twins are next out 12:10pm - they love that Abbie & Ryan are a competitive team but Ryan just rubs everybody the wrong way (he's kind of a jerk).
-Monster truck heads out 12:31pm - Rob is not happy with the first cab, it's too old and beat up, he chooses another newer cab (probably smart). He says people don't understand he uses his cockiness to drive himself (yeah, you keep telling yourself that - I'm not really an *ss, I just act that way.)
-At the travel agency James & Abba, the Twins and Ryan & Abbie learn there is only one flight out that day and it will get them into Istanbul at 6:25am the next day. Ryan is sitting in the corner complaining about the other two teams, he finds them all annoying and wants them off the race already (and the feeling is mutual my friend.)
-Lexi & Trey are heading out at 12:53pm
-James & Jaymes next out at 1:10pm
-Josh & Brent are the last out at 3:04pm
-Abbie & Ryan leave the travel agency having used the computer to search for better flights and found nothing. They're not worried about the other teams showing up there because Ryan believes between all of them there are about 6 brain cells. (Nice.)
-They twins get off the computer and Abba & James take their turn. One of the twins notices a wad of American money on the floor (obviously James & Abba's) first instinct is to ask who's money it is but then they think better of it and keep it. Lexi & Trey see this and become accessories - Trey by peer pressure - these teams are going to split the now stolen cash (I gotta say, I have a huge problem with that, if you can't win honestly, you don't deserve to win.)
-Abba notices the cash missing before they leave the travel agency but thinks he must have lost it in the cab on the way there. Now they are totally handicapped - James is staying positive but Abba is beating himself up about it. They realize they have no other choice but to beg for some money and it just feels wrong in a place where there is such poverty. They head to a more affluent business district and the locals are so giving and help them.
-At the airport, the twins split the money (and the guilt) with Lexi & Trey. They are pretty sure the money the found is the Rockers but they wish it was Abbie & Ryan's.
-Abba & James are able to raise $100 - the same amount they lost - they can not express their gratitude to the people of Bangladesh - the cab driver loved that, "Bangladesh good, not bad."
-On the flight James & Abba haven't mentioned losing their money to anyone, they don't want the other teams to ever see weakness. (Little do they know the sneakiness among them.)
They land in Turkey and Chippendales & Monster Truck take the metro, everyone else opts for taxis. If there is no traffic, the taxi should be faster and the Goat Farmers know if they don't take the fastest way possible, that Speed Bump they will have to complete this leg will kill them.
-James & Abba are the first team to the ferry terminal and they read the clue: Welcome to Europe, now make your way back to Asia - they have to take the ferry across the strait to the other side of Turkey to get the next clue. They are the only team on the first ferry.
-The Twins, Ryan & Abbie, Josh & Brent and Trey & Lexi are all on the next ferry and they celebrate the fact that Monster Truck & Chippendales were not there yet.
-On the Metro the Chippendales find out that a taxi would have been faster - they decide to jump off the metro and take a taxi.
-Monster Truck sees them jump off the train and wonder if they know something they don't know. Rob blusters that the Chippendales are followers, they think they have to stay with the group - Monster truck is going to make their own way. (You stay with the group so you're not last, that seems like a good strategy to me.)
-James & Abba arrive on the other side and get the clue to make their way to a bazaar, find a certain shop and get their next clue.
-The 2nd ferry gets in and the Twins are not too happy to see the Rockers are there before them (huh, how'd they do that when you stole all their money? Karma's so going to get them.)
-Trey finds the clue box and alerts everyone - they all head out for the Bazaar.
-Chippendales arrive at the ferry terminal and are not too happy to see a bunch of clues gone already - not as fast as they thought they were. They are the only team on their ferry - Monster Truck are still on the Metro.
-Trey & Lexi arrive at the bazaar with James & Abba - they find the shop and are given a box of Turkish Delight and the clue (and they see the Speed Bump is also there.) The clue is the DETOUR: Simit or Scrub it.
-In Simit, teams will transport Turkish bagels known as simit to three different addresses. They must figure out how to stack the simits on the trays then, with a cloth ring on their heads, they must balance the tray on their heads and transport them through the streets of Istanbul. Once they've made the deliveries, the baker will give them their next clue.
-In Scrub It, teams will be pampered with a traditional turkish delight - they must pick up their bathing outfit them make their way to the turkish bath. After choosing an attendant they will be cleansed like they have never been before - once they are squeaky clean, they'll get their next clue (hmm, I don't think many bagels will be delivered today... and there has to be a catch, who wouldn't choose the spa day?)
-Trey & Lexi and the Rockers confer and they are all going to be scrubbed.
-The rest of the teams start arriving and everyone is going to be scrubbed - the Twins at least acknowledge that it could be painful. When Abbie asks if they should do scrub it, Ryan is a jerk, as usual, "Uh, duh." (Grr, quickly becoming my least favourite person and he's not even a thief.)
-Josh & Brent see their Speed Bump - They have to find the marked vendor (cart out in the square) and eat two scoops of Turkish ice cream before continuing on the Race. (Really? They have to stop for a snack? Hardly seems like a speed bump at all, more like a treat.) Oh, but then the boys prove that they are not that smart and don't go to the right ice cream stand. Apparently getting a turkish ice cream comes with a performance, he does some cone juggling, slight of hand, teasing... but they've eaten from the wrong cart.
-Chippendales is just getting off the ferry and they head for the Bazaar. They have no idea what place they are in (it's 6th right now.)

-The Goat Farmers struggle through the ice cream cones - head back in to the shop and the guy tells them they didn't pass the exam. They re-read the clue and realize they had to eat from the MARKED vendor - back out they go. (Okay, so maybe not the easiest Speed Bump after all.)
-Scrub It - they finally find the turkish bath and everyone is enjoying the scrubbing, probably more than they should. Feels nice having Bangladesh scrubbed off them.
-Josh & Brent find the marked ice cream vendor and they're not quite as amused by the show and the ice cream is not quite as good as the first one... but they get through it and head back to the shop for the Detour... they are going to do the bread figuring it will be faster.
-Chippendales get to the Bazaar and they are definitely going to get a scrub (shocker.)
-The Goat farmers get a tray loaded and decide it will be better for only one of them to take a tray at a time so the other can ask directions... but no one speaks English and they have no idea where they're going.
-Monster truck, last ones to the Bazaar and they decide to do the Bread as well.
At the Turkish Bath, we've moved on to the painful massage portion of the proceedings - Rocker James says they punch your feet, pull your heart out and show it beating... (not quite but I bet it felt like it.)
-They are all nice and rosy once it's done and Lexi & Trey are the first to finish and get the clue to head to another Bazaar and look for the marked fountain inside where they'll find the next clue.
-Chippendales get to the baths as everyone else is leaving. They enjoy getting Bangladesh scrubbed off them.
-Josh & Brent are wandering aimlessly (as usual) - Brent has the heavy tray on his head and is quickly losing patience with Josh's wishy-washiness. The locals don't speak English and are laughing at them.
-Monster Truck gets to the bakery and Rob does a dance to the local music (I could have done without seeing that.) They load up a tray and Rob is carrying it on his head.
-Josh & Brent finally find a guy who knows some English and they get one delivery done.
-Trey & Lexi and Abbie & Ryan are the first teams to the next Bazaar (Abba can't run with his knees so they've fallen behind) and they get the clue to the ROADBLOCK - Who's ready to pour their heart out?
-One team member will have to dress up as a local vendor (Oh, I love it when they make them dress up in costumes!) This includes a red & gold fez and vest combo - then they have to serve Turkish Sherbet, known as the worlds first soft drink. They have to carry a long, spouted, brass tea pot on their back and then serve 40 glasses of the soft drink. Once they are earned 40 lira (about $20) the sherbet vendor will give them their next clue.
-Lexi and Ryan are going to do the selling. And they get right to it. Ryan fills the glass half full then drops a bunch of stuff...
-James & Abba get there and Abba says he'll do this one, it looks easy enough.
-Lexi is having more luck with the serving, Ryan keeps losing the top of his tea pot (maybe if he'd sling it across his back like he's supposed to, but no, Ryan knows best - he's just going to hold it under his arm - Duh.)
-Back at the Turkish bath the Chippendales refused to squeal at the deep massage, and the cold rinse was a little shocking, but over-all that Detour was right up their alley, "Don't we look great?" (Shot of them almost naked... uh yes, yes you do.)
-Goat farmers finally make their first delivery, Rob & Kelly are right behind them.
-The Twins get to the Roadblock and Natalie is going to pour her heart out, because she's single(?)
-Lexi was using her Cheerleader skills to be loud and annoying to sell the drink - one guy gave her money just so she'd go away.
-Ryan asks a local if he'll help him sell to all his friends on a commission basis and it starts working for him - he says, "It was genius." (Ryan is a big fan of Ryan.)
-Abba and Natalie are also trying to sell the drinks and I think they're saturating the market there - it's getting tougher.
-Goat farmers make second delivery and Monster truck is right behind them still.
-Lexi makes her last sale and makes her way back to the vendor - Nadiya cheers for them - she tells the camera she'd much rather Texas be first rather than Abbie & Ryan - and Abbie hear her - I think I saw steam come out her ears.
-Lexi gets the clue to the Pit Stop - the Savarona, a ship docked at a park.
-The Chippendales get to the Roadblock and dark hair James is going to do the selling.
-Ryan finishes and Abbie tells him what Nadiya said about her not wanting them to come in first. So he says, "They're so juvenile. They can suck it." (And that was so mature.)
-Abba has finished his selling and they head for the Pit stop.
-Goat Farmers make their final delivery and the monster truckers are right behind them - they both get the clues to make their way to the Roadblock.
-Natalie finishes selling the sherbet and Chippendale James sees them fly by - he knows he's got to bust it out and get his drinks sold.
-Back at the Roadblock the Goat Farmers arrive and Brent has sales experience so he has no problem hocking some juice - "And I may not be a Chippendale but I can rock a costume." (Haha.)
-Monster truck is the last team to arrive at the Roadblock and Kelly is going to sell the juice. Chippendale seeing those two teams arrive makes it clear they are at the back of the pack. James is having problems selling the juice and he keeps dropping the glasses - I wouldn't want my drink from a floor cup - come on! (Open the shirt maybe? He needs to use all his assets here ;)) And he does start targetting the ladies at Jaymes suggestion - it works.
-James finally finishes.
-Brent finishes.
-Kelly finally finishes.
-They are all on their way to the Pit Stop and the Goat farmers get stuck in traffic. They hop out of the cab and start directing traffic to get it moving on the tiny street - they tell a guy they have an emergency and he's got to move his truck... and it works.
Here's How They Finished:
1) Trey & Lexi - they win a trip for two to Australia. They have never been out of the country before, simple Texas folk, figure they've proved some people wrong [by how well they are doing on the Race.]
2) Abbie & Ryan - they seem alright being #2
3) James & Abba - with Abba hobbled and them losing their money, this could have been the end of the race for them but they will continue kicking & screaming until they throw the dirt on (like they kill you if you lose.)
4) Nadiya & Natalie - No more nice twins, they want to be #1.
5) Chippendales - they are very happy to still be in it.
6) Goat Farmers - Josh & Brent - they even took time out for ice cream. They were told they couldn't farm but they saved their farm and they just don't quit.
7) Monster Truckers - Rob & Kelly - **ELIMINATED** Rob says without Kelly he's nothing, having someone love him the way she does is worth more than a million dollars - and he assaults the eyes with one more dance before they leave (gah!)
So, with the Monster truckers leaving, that takes Shelly P, Shelley A, Kevin C, Robert L and Jeremy N out of the pool.
Next week: They head to Moscow and it looks like the Goat Farmers and Ryan & Abbie miss a connecting flight and James & Abba lose all their stuff when their cab takes off on them. (Looks like no one is catching a break next leg.)
