Tonight, We Make Our Move
The episode opened as the Villains were returning to camp from voting Randy out.
Villains - Night 8
Coach is disheartened about Sandra calling him out at Tribal Council and ranting to Tyson - "I'm human, I'm sensitive, I just hide it behind accomplishments and machismo." He's asking Tyson - "What did I do to deserve that? Never been anyone like me out here, I'm noble and I look ignoble. I'm the man. I don't need anyone to validate that - only person out here who will not be compromised" (He's so delusional!) And here come the tears!
Tyson is silent then - "Uuuhh... I know where you're coming from dude."
Coach continues to blubber - "it's unbelievable, why does no one ever say anything nice about me?" (Okay, now I'm getting a little uncomfortable - tears, chin wiggle, snot.)
I thought Tyson was just going to blow him off but he actually is a friend to Coach and says he'll coach him through this but he's going to have to tell him some things he doesn't want to hear. Coach - "Huh?"
Tyson tells him to stop wearing feathers in his hair to Tribal, stop telling his stories, no one believes them, to do his Tai Chi in private... (Good for him! Reality check time buddy.)
Coach - "I just can't do it. I may leave tonight." (Of course, too much to hope the scales would fall from his eyes that quickly.)
Tyson tells the camera he wants Coach to stay - he's much physically stronger than last time he played and they still need him at this point.
Villains - Day 9
Coach gets up and takes a walk on his own and Tyson tells the rest of the tribe about Coach's little breakdown and desire to leave.
-Rob - kind of disgusted - that's not much of a coach if you ask me. Rob goes and talks to Coach - Coach wants to talk about his feelings but Rob has no patience for his pity party, tells him he is not on the outside, he has to trust Rob and he'll be alright. "Pick your head up and act like a man." (Coach has to grow a thicker skin to survive with the Villains.)
-Coach - I'm different than most people - One of a kind - Last of the Mohicans, King Arthur, Legend... (Brah haha haha ha!) Nobody out here has what I have - Confucius say - Power in weakness, blah, blah blah. (But he's doing his Tai Chi in private so maybe some of Tyson's words sunk in... though he is still a sad, sad man.)
Heroes - Day 9
Tree-mail - Sears catalogue - they are allowed to pick two items out of the catalogue to play for - fishing kits, couches, etc.
-Amanda says winning the last challenge helped them come together as a tribe - doesn't want to lose the momentum.
REWARD CHALLENGE
They have to race head to head down a slippery course and grab a numbered ball that Jeff will randomly assign each round. Once they have the ball they have to put it in the basket - like skee-ball. The first person to make the basket scores a point, the first team to 4 points wins Reward.
Heroes reward: Fishing poles, stocked tackle box and kitchen set (everything to catch and cook food.)
Villains reward: Stocked toolbox, tarp and multi-tool. (everything to build a shelter.)
Parvati sits out and they all oil themselves up - Hello!
-Coach vs Tom - Coach scores and does a surprisingly understated celebratory arm pump.
-Russell vs Cirie - Russell flies to the ball, Cirie not so much, crawling - Russell scores - Villains 2 - 0.
-Courtney vs Candice - Candice scores before skeleton girl even gets to the basket. 2-1
- - Hold on - Oily James... needed a moment there...
-Jeri vs Amanda - Jeri scores 3-1
-Sandra vs James - James scores before Sandra can crawl to the mat - 3-2
-Danielle vs Rupert - I'm surprised she flopped on her chest, not afraid of popping the bad fake boobs I see - they both try too hard to score but Rupert finally makes it and ties it up - 3-3.
-Colby vs Tyson - this will decide it, Colby gets the ball quicker but Tyson gets the basket and Wins Reward for the Villains! Tarp and tools.
Villains - Day 9
-Coach - "Dragonslayer is feeling top notch. Ready to rock & roll and move forward. Will I change? No. Will I wear my heart on my sleeve? Absolutely, unequivocably." (The more things change the more they stay the same - (that's not a word by the way.))
-Russell & Rob are going through the tools - Russell grabs a knife and notices something is in the sheath - he pulls out the knife and the CLUE TO THE HIDDEN IMMUNITY IDOL falls out! Russell kicking himself, he blew it. Rob picks it up and reads it out loud to everyone then asks, "What should we do? Should we all go look for it - then what?" (There were no hidden idols when Rob played the game before so he's at a loss.) Sandra - "Throw it in the ocean. If you look for it, you're marked, I'm writing your name down so you have to use it." Russell is keeping his mouth shut (I'm surprised he's not gone looking for it already.) Rob, "Let's go build the shelter, Coach." I guess it's decided.
-Russell - "They're too dumb to even walk down the beach. What a bunch of idiots. If I find that hidden idol I will become powerful in this game."
-They are all working on putting the tarp up and Russell's scouting the beach, looking for the trees in the clue. He announces he's going for a walk and Rob's suspicious, "Is it just a walk or is he looking for the Idol?" (Of course he is.) Rob tells Sandra to go find out what Russell's doing (they are his minions.) She goes and spies on Russell, he tries to hide but she sees him - "He's a stupid ass." She reports back to the rest of the tribe that Russell's sealed his own fate - whoever went for the idol they were voting for - marked.
-Rob tells the camera - Russell's a bonehead. He's like a hobbit on crack. I don't trust his ass. Safest thing to do with someone like that is to get rid of him right away (Exactly! Rob's smarter than he looks.)
Heroes - Day 10
They get up and are doling out coffee beans and notice there's a scroll of paper in the jar of coffee beans. Everyone is there and JT reads the clue out loud then looks around, "Think one of us was supposed to find this, not all of us?" They all laugh but you know it's on!
-Tom says everything just changed. Colby and I are on the outs with this tribe, this is our ticket to stay in.
-JT slinks off, James saunters down the beach looking back to see if anyone's watching - they all are - Tom and Amanda start down to the beach too, Cirie circles around the other way but they all end up at the trees in the clue. Everyone is digging but Tom finds it and slyly sticks it in his sock (why is he the only one wearing pants?) Amanda notices and knows he has it. She goes and tells Candice who tells JT who tells Cirie... Rupert - We were all getting along so good too - (give the teddy bear act a rest already - he's driving me.)
-Tom tells Colby he has the hidden idol and that Amanda knows. They still feel a little more comfortable now. (I'm with the Villains - just vote for him, take it out of play.)
IMMUNITY CHALLENGE
Big balls - it's the challenge that nearly killed Russell S. last season! One team member will be strapped inside the ball - that person will direct 2 blindfolded tribe members down a winding course to a table maze - where the person in the ball will direct the 4 other blindfolded tribe members to manoeuvre the ball through the maze to the finish hole. First tribe to get the ball in the hole wins Immunity. Jeff tells them this was the only challenge in the history of Survivor that was not completed - so one team will be the first to complete it. Ooh.
Rob is in the ball for the Villains - Tom is in the ball for the Heroes. The Villains forced the Heroes' ball off the course and they gain the lead - Rob is the first in place and he starts the rest of them on the table maze. The Heroes are working on the table maze too - they are going back and forth and they're both circling the hole but... VILLAINS win Immunity! (Argh! It was so close.)
-Cirie says - Going back to tribal - getting rid of Tom or Colby tonight would be the smart move for my game - I need some of these strong people gone.
Heroes - Day 11
-Tom apologies, couldn't get the timing right. He knows he's a target even with the hidden idol because they all know he has it - today he's going to be biding his time and looking for cracks in their alliances to save their (his & Colby's) necks.
-Candice & Cirie - We have to split up the Tom & Colby alliance - if we split the vote 3 Tom, 3 Colby - if one plays the idol the other goes home. If they don't play it and there's a tie, then Tom & Colby don't vote and they can pick one of them off. Feel like they are good as long as everyone's on the same page.
-Amanda & JT - JT wants to see Candice go - Amanda, "But what about the idol though, Tom's smart." - JT - I trust Tom a hell of a lot more than Candice.
-JT tells the camera that he wants Tom & his idol in an alliance with him - straight shootin, look-you-in-the-eye kind of guys - Candice's scrambling around makes him not trust her.
-Tom talking to JT & Amanda - says they need the strength of himself & Colby in the tribe still - wishes there wasn't an idol - says they'll play the idol as a committee or he'll just give it to them. Amanda is leery of Tom but feels he's basically honest.
-James joins them - agrees Candice can't be trusted.
-Tom says to the camera that he was trying to ingratiate himself to the powers that be and he had something to bring to the table this time - a supposed alliance is born. We'll see.
-Amanda goes and talks to Cirie and tells her they're voting Candice - Cirie tells her, "that's the dumbest thing. Tom & Colby are way bigger threats - Can you beat them?" Now Amanda's confused. Cirie - "I love Amanda to death but she's not the sharpest tool in the shed. People in my alliance are wishy-washy, they panic and do stupid stuff." She berates James and Rupert, "Why you go and change things up like that?" (JT is watching and listening from the trees.) Cirie continues, "Tom is charismatic and athletic and he was this game once before, take him out. It's stupid, it makes no sense." Rupert, "Cirie is right."
-JT goes and tells Tom things aren't looking so good right now. Amanda wants to do it but Cirie's slapping her out of it. JT says he's got no control of it now. Tom says," Cirie's the puppet master, she's got her arm jammed up there and it could be the end of us."
-JT - Cirie should be the one to go home tonight. Tom - "We got 3 votes, if they vote 3 for Colby and Tom plays the idol - Cirie goes home and not him. Tomorrow we make our apologies, tonight we make our move."
-Rupert says to his crowd - we keep to the plan, keep Candice and our 6 strong.
-JT - his head says vote Colby and don't piss everyone off - but his heart says keep good guys in the game and vote Cirie before she can take him out. Heart can get hurt out here - knows how everyone is voting except for himself.
TRIBAL COUNCIL
Tom, I was surprised to see Stephenie go so soon. Where is the philosophy in terms of voting people out? - Stephenie was on the wrong side of the numbers - alliances formed on day 1 with wrong group so she was sacrificed.
Colby, so if this game is already about alliances, are we going to see a bunch of good people go early? - Unfortunately, it looks to be that way.
JT, where is the wisdom this early in voting out the strong merely because they're on the wrong side of the numbers? - Way too early to be gettin rid of people we can use to beat the other tribe but all these people are good and have reasons to be here.
What do you base the vote on then? JT - Simple - People that don't get scared and will stick to what they promised you to being with.
Rupert, what are you basing your vote on? - Trying to figure out how we can bond together and win in the challenges but (long pause) I've made alliances and promises that I want to keep.
So, it sounds like you're not sure if it'll be the best vote but I'm keeping my word. - That's exactly what I am saying Jeff.
[Jeff is flabbergasted] What part of that makes sense? Keeping your word to appear honourable just buys you more time with me at Tribal Council. I know, Tribal Council sucks. But you're a part of the reason, Rupert, that you're sitting at Tribal -based on that answer. I know.
Cirie, how worried are you tonight? -I'm always worried.
Tom, do you believe her? No.
Colby - do you think you're going home? It will take a bold move to save me tonight.
James, how are you voting? We need to win - I want gifts and the idol...
Tom pipes in - You going to vote that way tonight then James?
James - Yessir - I want everybody to stop all this crazy social game, it's a distraction. James don't do that stuff.
Colby jumps in - but James, it's a necessity if your name is on the top of the list to go home.
James - I hear ya.
Colby - I agree it's not fun but it's necessary.
JT, how are you feeling tonight?
JT - I don't think I'm going home tonight - I trust these people I'm in an alliance with tonight.
TIME TO VOTE: (Ooooh - what's going to happen?)
Candice votes Tom: Hope it's you not me tonight.
Tom votes Cirie: Way too good at wrapping weak minds around your finger. (Yes, she's a Jedi.)
TALLYING THE VOTES:
Jeff forgets to ask if anyone has a hidden idol and wants to play it - but Tom knows the drill and he stands up - "Hold on Jeff, I had hoped to hang on to this to use against the Villains but things around camp today made it necessary for me to play this." And he plays the idol! Any votes for Tom will not count.
Tom - 1, 2, 3 - Do not count.
Colby - 1, 2 - Cirie - 1, 2 ... and... 3 - CIRIE is voted out - she was shocked! It's the first blindside.
So that means Krista & Ian and Bernice R. are out of the pool. (But at least it was a good out!)
Cirie's final thoughts - Maybe I said too much and stepped on JT's toes but I couldn't sit back and play JT's game. I played the game for me. I don't blame them, that's like one of my moves - hat's off to them. You got me.
Preview of next week - Coach leads tribe in Dragonslayer Chi - everyone but Russell - he's off looking for the hidden idol and Rob's hunting Russell. Candice wants to work with Tom & Colby now and someone goes down in the challenge. Uh oh, here comes medical.
Have a great weekend everyone,
Coleen
