Hey guys,
Let me open by saying no one was eliminated in this last episode... and I mistakenly deleted the episode after I watched it without writing the recap... so no play-by-play this week but the highlights:
Before they left Africa, they had a quick Roadblock - bungee jumping off the Victoria Falls bridge. Most of the teams had the person that didn't do the swing the episode before do this... except the Paparazzi because I think Logan is a scaredy cat.
The teams then headed to Paris, France (oih oih, oui, oui).
Once in France they had to head to an airfield for a Roadblock where the team member that didn't do the bungee jump had to go up in a bi-plane and find three words laid out below that represented the motto of the French Resistance: Liberte, Egalite and Fraternite. (Their horrible mispronunciation was painful - Ega-light and Frater-night... really?)
-Everyone who went up in the planes found all three words the first time except Paparazzi Logan (who I realized is actually not very smart) meaning she had to wait for all the other teams to go and then go up again - this dropped them back down to last place.
-The Green Team was in the lead most of the episode but there was some trouble in paradise, Diana was sick of Justin just making all the decisions about what they were doing without listening to her input at all - this came to a head with the choice of the Detour - it was between performing hip hop/rap and arranging seafood at a French restaurant. Immediately Justin (who has look-at-me-disease) wants to do the rapping because that is right in his wheelhouse. Diana vehemently did not want to do it - in his Amazing Race proposal she had to memorize a French poem and she struggled with the language - having to rap in French was her nightmare - which Justin discounted telling her she could do it and he got his way. (When even the person that loves you is annoyed, you should maybe take a look at your behaviour...)
-I was surprised how many of them actually went for the rapping half of the Detour (Never in your life would you have me doing this one, even though I have some French, I have white girl vibe like Diana said.) Green Team did make it through, Diana pulled it out because she wants to win, not because she came around to his way of thinking.
-The Cheerleaders killed the rapping, the little one Krista is a speech therapist so she is good with language and they are both performers and dancers - she was almost battling the pros there and then dropped the mic! It was fun.
-The Reporters, god love 'em, got through the rapping but we have found the whitest woman in Kelsey, listening to her rap was painful.
-Team Texas boys headed for the French restaurant where they had to shuck oysters, clams and arrange lobster claws and crab legs for a seafood display dish. The boys aren't the most artistic or detail oriented so they were pretty slow at this one.
-Team Chacattack, the surgeon and dentist, showed up and flew through this one, wielding instruments and making sure everything is in it's place is right up their alley. They passed the boys here.
-But Team Texas did get a pass and left for the Pit Stop just as the Paparazzi showed up to start the seafood display.
-Which leads us to the team that went from first to last this episode - Team Alabama, Denise and James Earl. They tried and failed to find the French Restaurant so after wandering through town they ended up at the Rapping challenge and decided to go with this detour instead. James Earl was happy, he secretly loves to rap, his mother on the other hand... actually her rapping wasn't the main issue, it was her complete inability to grasp the French pronunciation of the words...
As the teams starting coming in to the Pit Stop - Phil told them they were still racing and handed them their next clue... Justin & Diana were the first team to arrive and they didn't show us everyone come in - though everyone had finished the Detour except for James Earl & Denise who were still struggling with the rapping at the close of the show.
So there you have the abbreviated version of the last episode... we'll have to wait until next week to see who goes home.
